Join us on Sunday June 7th for an Invasive Species Removal Volunteer Day at the SRC. 12-4pm, or any portion of that time. We will be out in the preserve removing predominantly Japanese Barberry. Bring gloves and tools if you have them, but we will have plenty if you don't. We will have snacks and drinks for all.
If you do plan to come, please let us know by filling out this sign up form. It helps us plan. Hope to see you all then!

The 4th annual Mayfly Film Festival was a great success! Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our festival, and the Schoharie River Center’s mission.
Thank you to SLOC Musical Theater for hosting us, and especially to Julie Philips for helping us so much last night.
Thanks to all who came early to participate in the Woven River community weaving project with Mallory Zondag, and spent time with us and ECOS: The Environmental Clearinghouse at Jay Square.

MOVED INDOORS!
We’ve decided to move the Mayfly Film Festival indoors for everyone’s comfort. New location is 418 Liberty St. right across the parking lot from Jay Square. Entrance on Liberty St.
There are activities still at Jay Square from 5 to 7:30pm, The Woven River weaving project with Mallory Zondag, and we will have microscopes and bugs set up as well. Dress warm and come early!
The film program will start closer to 8pm (now that we are indoors).

This summer, the SRC is offering two Watershed Ecology Field Schools. The first week Aug. 10-14th is for grades 4-6. Linked below.

Today in Schenectady join us for an invasive species removal day. At Central Park in Schenectady today from 1-4pm (meeting at the pavilion), Then June 7th in our preserve at the Schoharie River Center, from 12-4.
We will have gloves and tools, but bring your own, if you have them. Wear good shoes and cover your legs.

Wow! Trash Parade 2026 was a wild success. Thank you to everyone that participated! So many incredibly creative costumes and art. The goal has always been for this to be a community driven event, and it truly was. It really highlights how special Schenectady is, and how lucky we are to get to be a part of it all.

Huge thank you to Create Community Studios, Schenectady County Public Library, Art Night Schenectady for really taking this project on board in their programming.
Schenectady Environmental Education Center parters: ECOS: The Environmental Clearinghouse, Upper Union NA, Community Fathers Inc., and the City of Schenectady. Thank you to all of the Sustainable Schenectady organizations, Schenectady County Recycles, ReTree Schenectady, Electric City Food Co-op, Schenectady Greenmarket for their support and partnership. Interior demolition continues at the future SEEC building, and the crew from the SEAT Center have uncovered the beautiful timber framed structure from the original boathouse from early 1900s. Historical documentation will be on display at the Schenectady Environmental Education Center (SEEC)
