Little did I know that my journey would be arduous...

1971, my life changed forever. Imagine the very person that was your primary connection disappearing. What was left was a vulnerable, displaced girl that didn’t feel safe. the world suddenly became cold, harsh and abusive. I cried from a primal place that only the most helpless know. The cries went unanswered and the wound got bigger. I tried to fill the hole in my soul with s*x, men, trinkets, money and intoxicants but nothing lasted. I used my mind for 10 minute rushes with no thought of tomorrow. I hoped that I would die early. Part of me did die, it had to, for other parts of me to live. I am a walking tapestry of interwoven stories, connections, teachers and healers but, none loved me like the reckless love of God. Journey with my constituents and I as we endeavor to extend our hands to current orphaned and foster youth girls. Our intervention is meant to be a place of healing and connection before the harm of extended trauma leads to unwanted pregnancies, addiction, gang affiliation, homelessness and abuse.
