SAN DIEGO (Friday, Jan. 3, 2025) – San Diego FC (SDFC) is proud to announce a partnership with Nomads Soccer Club to deepen both Club’s commitment to youth development in San Diego County and to introduce Major League Soccer to the Nomads community.
Founded in 1976, Nomads Soccer Club is an Elite Player Development Soccer Club based in San Diego that promotes developing soccer players who have a feel and love for the game as well as the Club. Nomads has been operating in San Diego County for 49 years and currently has 20 teams and 400 players.
“Nomads Soccer Club is thrilled to partner with SDFC in a groundbreaking collaboration that connects elite youth player development with the professional game, creating a clear pathway for top talent in the San Diego community," said Nomads President Derek Armstrong. "Since 1976, Nomads has been a leader in cultivating exceptional players, and this partnership highlights our shared dedication to empowering young athletes and helping them reach their full potential. Together, we are excited to inspire the next generation and elevate the level of soccer in our region.”
As SDFC kicks off its inaugural season in MLS in 2025, this partnership greatly benefits both club’s long-standing passion for the game in San Diego County, which is widely known as a hotbed for players, fans and fan engagement.
“Nomads Soccer Club is a historic institution with a proven track record of developing top talent in San Diego,” said Bill Miles, COO of SDFC and Executive Director of SDFC’s Right to Dream Academy. “We’re proud to partner with Nomads to build on their legacy and provide even more opportunities for young athletes to pursue their dreams.”
SDFC’s objective is to support Nomads with programming that enhances Nomads’ strengths and provides increased opportunities for players and families to experience the game. SDFC and Nomads will be in touch with their communities soon with more details about the partnership.
Both Clubs look forward to growing the game in San Diego and beyond.
