It is with heavy hearts that we share that Eragon has passed away from a heart attack. 💔
Eragon, our beautiful Appaloosa gelding, came to us in very fragile state. He suffered from uveitis (moon blindness), was severely starved, and had even begun eating hair, which led to a dangerous impaction that required a week of hospitalization. We truly didn’t know if he was going to make it.
But he did.
He fought his way back with everything he had. Putting weight on him was one of the hardest journeys we’ve had with any horse. Every pound gained was hard-earned, with extra mash, supplements, and so much care. Watching him slowly come back to life was something we’ll never forget.
Eragon was incredibly sensitive, in every sense of the word. With his pink skin, he needed extra care physically, but it was his emotional sensitivity that made him so special. He always knew when someone was having a hard day. He would quietly follow them, gently nuzzling, offering comfort without ever being asked.
He also carried a deep awareness of his herd, always tuned into the well-being of those around him. He had the biggest heart… which makes losing him to a heart attack all the more difficult to process.
We are so grateful we were able to give him love, safety, and dignity in his final chapter. He was deeply loved by everyone who met him.
