SD K-12 educators! Registration for our 11th Teacher Resource Fair is now open! Enjoy an afternoon of collaboration with San Diego’s agricultural community on Tuesday, October 21 from 4 – 6:30 p.m. Gather resources to use in your indoor and outdoor classrooms, while connecting with agricultural experts and fellow teachers!

All educators grades K-12 are welcome to this free event that will help you stock up on science, nature, agriculture, and other STEM teaching materials. Refreshments, houseplants, and door prizes will be offered!

Hunter Irrigation is offering a "Water Wise Garden" grant opportunity for schools in San Diego County. Their headquarters is in San Marcos! But the deadline to apply is coming up quick - Friday Sept. 13!! If you have immediate water management needs, apply now.

Hunter Industries and KidsGardening are working together to offer the Water Wise Garden Grant to support public and charter schools in San Diego County planning to teach about water conservation, water stewardship, and responsible water management through gardening.

The SDAITC Board awarded 10 Garden Grants in March to Elementary and Middle Schools in Carlsbad, Oceanside, Poway, La Jolla, Lakeside, Santee and San Diego. Schools received between $500 and $1200. Funds awarded will be used to repair, enlarge or upgrade existing school gardens with new garden beds, irrigation systems, rodent control structures, tools, fruit trees, plants, seeds, soil, fertilizer, compost and worm bins. Congratulations to this year's winners!

What a cool opportunity!

There is a brand new, online course designed for educators to receive professional learning about agricultural literacy and how to integrate it in your classroom. We are seeking teachers to pilot test the program. Check out the perks!

In the Agricultural Literacy Certification (ALC) course, you will explore the diverse field of agriculture, learn about its pivotal role in society, and get a better understanding of how agriculture can be integrated into your curriculum to enhance your students’ understanding of the world around them.

We visited Abraxas High School as part of the national Growing School Garden Summit today. Such an amazing program, complete with 8000 gallon aquaponics system, outdoor kitchen, compost system and raised beds - all on a converted tennis court. So proud of the school garden community in our county! We are showing off our best and brightest to 450 garden educators from across the nation.
