🙋 ISO: volunteer opportunities! 🙋

Summer is around the corner and the Escanaba Kiwanis Club is on the lookout for local volunteer opportunities. Do you know of an organization, project, or cause that needs boots on the ground? Whether it's a cleanup, a community or children's event, a build, or something we haven't even thought of yet, we want to hear about it! No idea is too big or too small.

💛 This community shows up for us every day. Now we're asking: how can we show up for YOU?

👉 Drop your ideas in the comments or send us a message. Let's make this the most impactful Kiwanis summer yet!

🌼 Spring Cleaning: Kiwanis Style! 🌼

While spring was busy blooming, we were busy cleaning up - because a beautiful community doesn't happen by accident! Earlier this month, volunteers hit our stretch of M35 in Ford River and cleared the way for warmer days. This small act is rooted in something big: the belief that our community is worth showing up for. Every single time.

💙 Thank you to our amazing volunteers who make this happen season after season. You are the heart of this community.

👉 Stay tuned for ways to get involved; there's always more good work to do!

✨💕✨💕 ATTENTION!!!! 💕✨💕✨
Things have been REALLY slow these past few months, so I’m posting this reminder….

The H.O.P.E. Project FREE Store is NOT affiliated with any church or organization. We are NOT a 501c nonprofit & we do NOT receive ANY government funding of ANY kind! We are a “small business” dedicating our time to help those in need within our community & beyond.

As most of you know, we charge a fee of just $2.00 per person ($1.00 per child under the age of 18 years old), per day to enter & then everything inside is absolutely FREE! That small entry fee is what keeps our doors open & pays the bills.

These past few months, we haven’t even been covering costs with our entry fees - it’s just been that slow. Also, we don’t turn anyone away - regardless of their ability to pay, so there are a large number of people who do shop for free - which we’re thrilled we can help them in their time of need - however, being that we do depend on the entry fee to cover our costs, this does make it difficult for us to do what we do.

What we really need; is shoppers! Please remember, EVERYONE is welcome to shop! There is no income verification or limits. There are no residency requirements. Literally, ANYONE & EVERYONE is welcome & encouraged to shop! Your $2.00 entry fee is how we keep our doors open!

Also, we could really use donations of baby formula, diapers, food, & personal care items! The need for these items is dire & they always go fast! If anyone would like to donate, we accept donations of baby formula, diapers, food, & personal care items ANY day that we are open - during regular business hours.

If you’d like to make a monetary contribution, we do accept those, as well! If you’d like to help, there are 3 different ways to do this!

1. You can stop in during business hours & leave a monetary contribution in the fee box at the front counter.

2. You can mail checks to;
The H.O.P.E. Project FREE Store
2301 9th Avenue North.
Escanaba, Michigan. 49829.

3. You can send your contribution via Cash App to: $TheHOPEProjectEsky

We greatly appreciate your continued help & support! We couldn’t do this without you!

🤔 How many Kiwanians does it take to build a litter receptacle? 🤔

Apparently… five. And nearly two hours. 😅

This weekend, we had the privilege of supporting Brampton Township as they brought their new playground to life. And while we may have ✨️slightly✨️ underestimated the complexity of a trash can, the real story here isn’t about us.

It’s about a community that showed up.

Neighbors, families, and volunteers came out with grit, determination, and love for each other. This project was driven by Brampton Township from start to finish; we were just glad to jump in wherever an extra set of hands (or five) was needed.

We’re proud to have been a small part of something so meaningful. We think we’ll stick to cheering on the big builds… and maybe leave the receptacles to the pros next time. 😉

💡💙 Big ideas. Fresh inspiration. Real impact. 💙💡

We spent Saturday at the Wisconsin Upper Michigan Kiwanis District Mid-Year Conference connecting, learning, and sharing ideas (we had a streak of good luck and our club brought home FIVE bucket raffle wins!).

We wrapped up the day with a great dinner alongside fellow Kiwanians. 🍽

We’re especially proud to celebrate four of our own who were recognized as Distinguished Members:

Linda Beauchamp – Community Impact
Melissa Bonifas-Ness – Our Kiwanis Image
Michael Markwell – Financial Viability
Ashley Borowski – Membership & Education

We headed home inspired and ready to serve.
