Delta County Cancer Alliance Has Found a New Home

The Delta County Cancer Alliance (DCCA) is excited to announce that we have found a new home to provide our cancer support services. Following the recent flooding of our office and storage room we were fortunate the Gartland family allowed us to use a temporary office across the parking lot. Since then our contract for renting the office space and storage has not been renewed. We are very thankful to the Gartlands who have generously allowed us the space to provide cancer support to Delta County residents for many years at an affordable rate.

The contract termination had presented the DCCA with many challenges; but only for a short time. DCCA Board President, Gayle DeShambo says she cannot thank our community enough for rallying around the cause to help find a new location that would be comfortable, safe and affordable for both our volunteers and clients. She shared there were so many people reaching out to provide support and assistance in finding a new location. Within a few days, Karen Dillabough, President of Christ the King Church contacted us with some rooms their church would be willing to set up to provide our services in. When we visited the location, Paulette Potvin, DCCA Treasurer shared, “this just feels like home, it is calm and comfortable”. Even better, the cost is less than what we are paying now, which allows us to share that difference with our clients in need.

The Church has been so kind and generous. They are installing keypads to enter the building and the two rooms we will be working out of. The keypads make it so much more user friendly for our volunteers. They are also providing office furniture, shelving units and file cabinets. All in which we were in need of following the damage from the flooding.

We hope to have the new office open for business on Monday, June 1 at 1 pm. Please share this message with people in your circle so that those in need of our services will know where to find us. Feel free to stop by our office, hours will continue to be Monday through Friday 1pm to 4pm.
