We introduced a hands-on activity at monday's YMCA class where the students used paper straws, one in good shape, and the other bent and broken. The students sucked pieces of paper with the straws to place on the images of the good lungs and damaged lungs. This interactive excersise stimulates how ni****ne, to***co, and the chemicals in the v**e devices or ci******es damage the lungs and restricts airflow.

Happy Monday! Relay For Life of Unicoi County has a wonderful lineup of events this week to help us celebrate, remember, and fight back!
One of the events, Capitol Hall will be showing Happy Feet in honor of Gay Whitt who was a well-known dance teacher in our area for many years. A great opportunity to bring your family and friends together to laugh, share, and celebrate her legacy.

Unicoi SADD Joined forces with Kristen Allen & Relay for Life @ the Pink Out game to raise awareness to honor the survivors, the fighters, and those we lost. A little rain didn't stop us from cheering on our Blue Devils and educating the youth on making safe and healthy choices.

HAPPY BOSS'S DAY TO OUR FEARLESS LEADER, CHRISTY SMITH!

10 years ago, you started the Unicoi County Prevention Coalition, and because of your vision, dedication, and hard work, we have the opportunity to get out into our community and make a difference every single day!

Because of YOU, we are able to share valuable resources, support individuals and families, connect people with help, educate our youth about the dangers of destructive decisions. You have helped build something that reaches beyond an office, it reaches into our schools, our homes, and the lives of the people in our community.

Thank you for leading with passion, for believing in prevention, intervention & recovery, and for giving us the opportunity to be part of something that truly matters. The work we do today helps build a stronger, healthier, and safer tomorrow for Unicoi County!

Happy Boss's Day, Christy!

October is Bullying Prevention Month and this week we connected with students in the middle school and high school to talk about the power of words and the importance of being an upstander.
Students took the anti-bullying pledge to treat others with respect, support those that are excluded, and to stand up against bullying. To not be a bystander, but be an UPSTANDER.
