WELCOME HOME EVERYONE!!! Can't wait to see you all!!! Good ol' Erskine is ready for ya! Let's have a GREAT time! Don't forget the "reunion choir practice" on Saturday at 3:30 pm at the Erskine Community Center--also the "teacher reception" for alumni to visit former and current teachers on Saturday at 5:00-6:00 pm at the Community Center. Thursday, June 4th starts with a "teen dance" on mainstreet (community center in case of rain!)--dance is from 8:00-11:30 pm with lots of prizes and cash! On Friday evening, there is a terrific "TALENT SHOW" out at the Win-E-Mac School at 7:00 pm followed by an "oldies dance" with Tom Helgeson on main street starting at 9:00 pm. Saturday is jam packed from morning to night ending with another street dance with live band music by the "Bad Campers" and of course at dusk on Saturday night is the infamous "FIREWORKS SHOW"--for more details go to the Erskine Water Carnival site and a list of all events is posted for your convenience. Ness Café will have "late night hours" just for your visiting pleasure! Sunday morning, the "alumni choir" will perform at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine at 9:00 am. (meet for practice at 8:30 am in the church basement on Sunday morning) The Erskine Fire Department is serving a delicious "PANCAKE BREAKFAST" until 1:00 pm on Sunday at the Community Center followed by Bingo at 1:30-3:30 and don't forget to take in the wonderful "CAR SHOW" from noon until 4:00 pm right down main street! The great parades start with the "kiddy parade" at 4:30 pm and the 60th Water Carnival "grand parade" at 5:00 pm followed immediately by the "alumni/reunion parade". GET YOUR CLASS FLOATS ready and line up at the "old elementary school building" anytime from 4:00-5:00 pm. We hope you will all enjoy your stay and leave with lots of good memories! ATTENTION ALL CURRENT & FORMER ERSKINE HIGH SCHOOL/ELEMENTARY & WIN-E-MAC TEACHERS: You are cordially invited to a teacher reception at the Erskine Community Center from 5:00 pm-6:00 pm on Saturday, June 6th. This is in conjunction with the Erskine/Win-E-Mac All School Reunion held during Erskine's 60th Water Carnival. All ALUMNI are encouraged to stop by and visit with your former teachers. Mary Westrum who is the Grand Marshall of the reunion parade will be at this reception and is hoping she'll get to greet a lot of her former students!!! Mary taught 6th grade at the Erskine Elementary School for many years and was instrumental in teaching us everything we needed to know about "Minnesota History"! Following the reception, the second performance of a HYPNOTIST SHOW will start at 6:30 pm followed by a STREET DANCE (live band-the "BAD CAMPERS") at 9:00 pm and our famous FIREWORKS SHOW at dusk (aprox 10:15 pm) and remember NESS CAFE will have "late night hours" during the water carnival so you can get together and visit! Any alumni out there who might happen to know how to get a hold of some of our former teachers, please do so and invite them to Erskine to share some good old memories of their teaching days at Erskine and Win-E-Mac!

What's your favorite reunion memory? Mine was the 1989 all-school reunion in connection with Erskine's centennial. The class of 1974 was going to rent a hot tub and say something like "'74 is still hot," so we came up with "'74 may be hot, but '75 is still cool" and did our float in summer cool: Swimsuits, shorts, sunglasses, kiddie pools filled with water balloons, cooler filled with beer, and Super Soakers that we sprayed into the crowd and at the classes of '74 and '76.

The parade was a blast, and people got us back for the giant sq**rt guns, fetching their hoses from their yards! Afterward, we rode around town for hours, giving our offspring rides, and then went to the bar. Much fun was had there by everyone, including figuring out how many ways to wear one of the diapers I had just bought from the gas station for my 2-year-old son. I think one way was a turban. The child did get the rest of the diapers. :)

That was probably the most fun I've ever had as an adult. Aside from consuming adult beverages, though, I don't think we did ANYTHING adult, which is probably why it was so fun. In that one day, we grasped the childlike sense of spontaneity and glee that needs no reason to be. It just is.
