SAM & ED, the parents of InnovationErie, was a collaborative, ad hoc "think tank" founded by Civitas. Through SAM & ED, the Civitas group also co-founded the Save the Villa Chapel Committee, the Erie Center for Design & Preservation (now Preservation Erie) and All Aboard Erie. Hosted at the Erie Art Museum since its inception and partially funded for the first five years (2008-2013) through a PASSHE grant through Edinboro University of PA, InnovationErie is an ad hoc group of volunteers from around the community working on the annual competition and seeking support from dozens of regional organizations and businesses.
