Yesterday, Achieva President and CEO Steve Suroviec received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rehabilitation and Community Providers Association (RCPA) at its annual conference.

Steve was recognized for more than three decades of leadership advancing opportunities, inclusion, and greater independence for people with disabilities. Throughout his career, he has worked in both the government and nonprofit sectors to advance systemic improvements, public policies, and programs that have helped expand home and community-based living, employment, and person-centered supports.

He was recognized for his leadership roles, spanning from chairing Governor Ridge’s disability policy team to leading The Arc of Pennsylvania, the PA Office of Developmental Programs, the PA Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, and the Erie County Department of Human Services. Steve also served as a Special Advisor to the PA Secretary of Human Services for Employment First Policy and was Director of the I/DD Division of RCPA. During all these roles, Steve was known for exhibiting leadership and influencing numerous public policies, programs, and pieces of legislation geared to assisting people with disabilities live and thrive in the community.

As CEO of Achieva for the last nine years, Steve continued this work by promoting innovation, expanding successful programs, and building financial resources to sustain its dedicated workforce and grow Achieva’s advocacy and family support mission.

Achieva congratulates Steve on this well-deserved recognition and thanks him for his leadership and service throughout a distinguished career, dedicated to advancing opportunities for people with disabilities and their families.
