6 days filled with deep connection, healing, and hard work on Hopi & Diné lands.

7 homes repaired (from windows to roofs and walls), dozens of seedlings planted, fire extinguishers and smoke detectors installed, 1/3 of the ancient and sacred Walpi Village re-mudded, a corn field fence replaced - and countless moments of cross-cultural connection and healing.

We are honored to have done this work side by side with local families, friends from the Pine Ridge Reservation, and this beautiful group of human beings from Sierra Club, NCCc and beyond. This is what we can do when we come together to serve, across all that makes us different and all that we share. Wopila, Askwali, Ahéhee’.

So much good work is being completed here on the Hopi & Diné reservations by this crew of volunteers, tribal members, and the local community…. homes repaired, new layers of adobe added to ancient structures, community gardens planted, firewood split.

But, as always, the most meaningful work taking place is the building of relationships.

We are so grateful to see these connections take shape, across all that makes us different and all that we share.

Grateful to be here on Hopi & Diné lands for another week of service, cross-cultural connection, and healing.

17 years of side-by-side work with this extended community. Thousands of pounds of food distributed, cords of firewood split, and hours of service in Native communities. Countless moments of cross cultural connection and healing. We are humbled and grateful to carry out this mission alongside each of you.

It was a joy to celebrate with you all this past Saturday!

Our deepest gratitude to Ed & Josiah Contreras and The Xisme for the amazing live music, Thomas Yellowhorse from Rocky Mountain Indigenous Dancers for leading Native youth in a powerful set of songs on the drum, the young people from Pine Ridge who traveled down to help and participate, the students of RMSEL and Dawson School for all they do (and for leading an epic water fight!!), and to all the volunteers and attendees who made the event so special. Wopila.

Here’s to the next 17 years of impact, side-by-side ❤️

Cross-cultural dialogue, tiny homes for tribal members, bison hide drums, horses and more - so much is taking shape at our Hub. We want you to be part of it.

Come see what it's all about this Saturday May 16th, 10am-3pm for an Open House, in celebration of our 17th anniversary!

There will be live music by Indigenous Indie Pop band The Xisme, guided tours of the Hub, drumming and words from a Lakota relative, an Indigenous taco bar + potluck, and more! Full event details here:

The Reservation Homes Project is underway! Earlier this year, Indigenous elders and community members from Pine Ridge connected with students from the Dawson School during an emotional conversation about the housing crisis on the reservation. Since then, the students have been spending most of their weekends moving the project forward.

The biggest step yet was taken this weekend, as Dawson students and volunteers took part in a tool training led by rockstar volunteer and carpenter Ian! Now that the students are trained in tool use and safety, they’ll work with tribal members throughout the year here at our Hub to build the first tiny homes for reservation families. We thank them for helping plant the seeds of a housed, happy future for Native communities!

Something special is growing at The Tipi Raisers Hub…

A garden full of Indigenous edible and medicinal plants is about to bloom this spring!

A labor of love led by volunteers and guided by the wisdom of Native gardeners and farmers, this garden will help Hub visitors learn more about Native foodways and will supplement food boxes for reservation families with nutritious, traditional ingredients.

So excited to watch these plants blossom into wisdom, education, and nourishment at the Hub and in the Native communities we serve!

It starts with food and firewood for Native communities. Brave connections across cultures, generations, and the lines drawn by the scars of history. Side-by-side work in an Indigenous garden. Plans drawn for reservation home construction. Buffalo pastures prepped for a four-legged homegoing. Home repairs and conversation with a Native elder. Horseback rides of reconciliation.

It ends when all children, Native and non-Native, thrive in interconnected and culturally-rooted communities.

This vision for the future is in sight - come see what it's all about at thetipiraisers.org
