Meetings are every Tuesday at 7pm
in the St. Jude Parish Activity Center (southwest entrance of St. Jude school) We are Boy Scout Troop 61, based in Erie, PA.

We're part of the Oliver Perry district of the French Creek Council of the Boy Scouts of America. We're chartered to St. Jude Catholic Church in Millcreek Township. We meet every wekk in the Parish Center at Our Lady's Christian School in Millcreek Township. Generally, we hold meetings on every Tuesday at 7:00 pm. We try to take part in at least one group outing or service project per month.

High Adventure 2026

Troop 61 set sail for an exciting trip to Sea Base Bahamas for our 2026 high adventure trek. The scouts had an unforgettable experience living aboard Ripple with Captain Carly, who shared her knowledge of the sea with the scouts. The scouts enjoyed a week of sailing, snorkeling shipwrecks and coral reefs, fishing, and exploring the area around the Sea of Abaco. They learned valuable skills and created memories that will last a lifetime.

A huge thank you to Captain Carly and Sea Base Bahamas for a great experience.

Summer Adventures

Troop 61 summer adventures continued. Troop 61 traveled to Camp Manatoc in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park for an exciting week of summer camp. During the week, the scouts tackled canoeing, archery, rifle shooting, pioneering, welding, and much more. Once you add in the open program, evening program, patrol cooking, and a service project, it was a week full of opportunity and responsibility.

Summer Adventures

As part of their summer adventures, Troop 61 traveled to the nation's capital for an unforgettable experience. During their visit, the Scouts explored the National Mall and toured many of Washington, D.C.'s iconic monuments and memorials. Their trip also included visits to the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, and the National Zoo.

The trip provided the Scouts with a meaningful opportunity to explore the nation's history, culture, and scientific achievements firsthand. Hopefully, they gained a deeper appreciation for the people, events, and ideas that have shaped our country while creating memories.

Troop 61 lent a hand with the Pennsylvania Clean Marinas program.

The Clean Marinas Project diverts thousands of tons of boat shrink wrap from landfills by recycling it into durable goods like guardrail blocks. Locally in Erie, PA, the Regional Science Consortium leads the initiative.

The scouts prepped the shrink wrap material so that it would be ready for the next step in the recycling process. Through service projects like this, Scouts learn the importance of environmental stewardship, community involvement, and leaving places better than they found them.
