Creativity, teamwork, and a whole lot of purpose! 🧵🪡

Last night, our Sewing Creative Studio wrapped up two days of students and mentors creating some pretty cool—and practical—items that will be available at our upcoming Urban University Holiday Gallery Shops!

A special thank you to Miss Sue, who has faithfully led our sewing courses for many years, generously sharing her skills, patience, and encouragement with our students. And what a blessing to have mentors who invest not only in teaching a skill, but in building confidence and character along the way!

Our UU commUUnity has been hard at work putting creativity, skills, and entrepreneurial spirit into action as we raise funds for our educational and historical journey to Washington, D.C., in May 2027.

The designs were creative, the pitches were impressive, and the judges didn’t hold back! 👏

Our Urban University 3D Printing students stepped into the spotlight for UU’s Shark Tank, confidently presenting their products, market research, pricing, and profit potential to a panel of judges.

Our judges brought thoughtful questions, honest feedback, and plenty of encouragement, challenging students to think like real entrepreneurs!

A huge thank you to Mr. Tim, Mr. Will, our mentors, and our outstanding judges for investing in this incredible learning experience.

Our student teams knocked it out of the park with their 3D Printing Shark Tank presentations this evening!

After researching, designing, troubleshooting, and creating, students confidently pitched their products to a panel of judges, presenting their market research, cost analysis, pricing, and potential profits.

A huge thank you to Mr. Tim and Mr. Will for leading this exceptional hands-on learning experience, our dedicated mentors for guiding and encouraging students throughout the process, and our outstanding panel of judges for offering genuine encouragement, thoughtful questions, and honest, constructive feedback.

We couldn’t be prouder of the creativity, perseverance, teamwork, and leadership our students demonstrated!

And the best part? You may soon see their creations for sale! Keep an eye out for student-designed keychains, ornaments, pots, and even a clever “Pickleball Repository” at our upcoming Urban University Holiday Gallery Shops!

Problem-solving can be frustrating—but it’s also part of life.

At Urban University we intentionally create challenging projects that require students to communicate, navigate team dynamics, step outside their comfort zones, persevere through frustration, and build resiliency.

This time, we’re doing it through 3D Printing!

Student teams have been researching, designing, troubleshooting, and developing products as they prepare for UU’s own version of Shark Tank this week. A panel of judges will hear their pitches and help determine whether their products have what it takes to be produced, marketed, and sold at our upcoming Holiday Gallery Shops.

The goal isn’t simply to create a great product—it’s learning how to work together, solve problems, and keep going when things don’t go as planned.

Nearly every course at Urban University finds a way to exceed our expectations, and Introduction to Drawing was no exception! ✏️

Our students and mentors came into the course with a wide range of experience—some had drawn before, while others were complete beginners. But thanks to Pastor Andy’s fun, encouraging, and approachable teaching style, everyone finished the course yesterday having learned so much about the art of sketching—and maybe even more about themselves.

Because sometimes the greatest lesson isn’t what you create on the page. It’s discovering that you can do hard things when you’re willing to step outside your comfort zone, be teachable, and give something new a try.

And that’s what Urban University is all about—learning new skills while discovering what you’re capable of along the way.

As part of our history and civics series leading up to our 2027 trip to Washington, D.C., we were grateful to welcome Mr. Jeff Coleman for an outstanding session of Profiles in American Leadership: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

Joining us remotely from Harrisburg, Mr. Coleman shared insights from his time as a former Pennsylvania House member and as founder of Churchill Strategies, a firm focused on storytelling rooted in civility and authentic narrative. He explored the leadership of both famous and lesser-known figures—and challenged our students and mentors to think critically about what truly makes a good leader.

Thank you, Mr. Coleman, for an inspiring class!
