Headwaters Park

Headwaters Park Promoting wise land and water use throughout Erie County Headwaters Park holds a wide array of habitats, including forest, meadow, and wetlands.

A beautiful 70+ acre park conveniently located off of I-90, maintained by and adjacent to the Erie County Conservation District. With over 3 miles of trails, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy hours of the natural setting. The Park is also home to 5 geocaches - come out and enjoy year - round!

Spring is the season of growth and birth in nature, and it's been quite a spring! This photo is from my yard, not the Park, but please believe there are all sorts of little ones of all species throughout the Park right now.

When you see newborn animals in the wild, remember they may not be abandoned. There is a very good chance mom or dad is nearby paying close attention. Unless they are visibly injured (possibly requiring a call to ), leave them be and observe from a safe distance.

The photo of the baby falling onto mom's face makes me giggle☺️

We have a mama-to-be in our Pocket Park! Please be respectful when you visit and walk the trail. This killdeer has decided the warm soil/sun mix was perfect for a nest.

There are now cones by her nest to let visitors be aware of her home. She is quite vocal and will pretend to be injured with a broken wing to distract you from her nesting site.

Please give her space and watch from afar as the spring progresses. What a neat species!
