Bright Futures gives young people the opportunity to gain real-world work experience, build valuable skills, earn a paycheck, and explore future career paths while making a positive impact in our community.

Participants will work with local employers across Erie County in a variety of industries and positions designed to help prepare them for long-term success.

The Earn & Learn program—though it’s gone by many names over the decades—has been a cornerstone of Erie’s youth employment efforts since the 1970s.
Whether you remember it as Summer JAM, Work Ready, or something else entirely, the mission has remained the same: empower our young people with real-world work experience, mentorship, and pathways to a brighter future.

We’re proud to carry on this legacy and build on it for the next generation. Thank you to all the employers, community partners, and mentors who continue to make Earn & Learn a lasting force in our region.
