Equity Coalition of Erie

Equity Coalition of Erie Welcome to the Equity Coalition of Erie! We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to confronting injustices and oppression throughout Erie County.

By promoting voter education and policy reform, we aim to make Erie a better, safer place for all! Our Mission Statement:
"We believe that everyone has inherent worth; as a result, everyone deserves to have their voices heard. Our spaces are welcoming & embracing of all genders, religions, ethnicities, sexualities, ages, disabilities, & the continuous spectrum of humanity. Stemming from these bel

iefs & values, we are committed to learning from each other & our mistakes: we aim to proactively confront the social, political, & economic spaces that oppression & injustice occupy daily."

General Code of Conduct:
☞ Members will adhere to the Shared Ground Rules (see below) to conduct meetings and conflict resolutions properly amongst one another.
☞ We will address problems with one another privately before involving others. Behavior that individual members deem zero-tolerance behaviors will be judged by the entire group.
☞ If a conflict is unresolved by the parties privately, the situation will be reviewed by the group.
☞ We will give both parties in conflict opportunity to tell their side. The group will be respectful of both sides as they are presented.
☞ The board will judge both sides fairly and conduct an investigation. A just decision will then be made.
☞ In the case of an accuser/accused incident, the victim MUST choose how to move forward by discussing it with the board privately; if the accused is a repeat offender, the information and review will be public. The role of the accused will then be determined by the board.
✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦
Shared Ground Rules (for our meetings):
☞ Patience: Enact patience with each other as we learn and grow this organization together.
☞ ELMO (Enough, Let's Move On): One mic, one voice; we will allow a speaker to be heard, but will limit them to around 2 minutes to allow for the flow of time and vocal space.
☞ Attention: Only be on your phone when looking at a calendar or notes pertaining to the group.
☞ Respect: Try to be as civil and respectful as possible with each other when conversing; refrain from using profanities toward one another; be mindful of how you communicate when you disagree with someone - use caution with your delivery and approach the situation with good phrasing; note gender pronouns and identities, including ethnic and racial, sexual orientation, and other lifestyles.
✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦
As a nonprofit seeking to enact policy reform, we believe that transparency is essential to the success of our organization and the achievement of our goals. Therefore, all general meetings will be recorded and all important information regarding our proceedings will be made available to the public. We strive to maintain accountability in our board members and ensure that every voice is heard and valued. Let's all work together to make Erie the glowing, welcoming city we know it can be.
