LEAF - Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park

LEAF - Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park The Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier (LEAF) is a tree museum located within Frontier Park, a city park in Erie, PA.

LEAF's mission is to create a greater awareness of the importance of trees to our lives by creating educational opportunities and outdoor experiences for our community. LEAF is home to over 1000 trees, a collection that grows in interest and diversity each year. Many of the trees in the arboretum have been sponsored and will display a plaque bearing the Latin and common name of the tree. LEAF has

transformed Frontier Park into a hub for community activity with a variety of educational offerings and outdoor experiences for all ages. LEAF is responsible for many of the improvements to Frontier Park ranging from bridges and pathways to increased accessibility. The LEAF Education Center, which is available for rent, provides restroom facilities, serves as an indoor classroom, and features a vegetative roof that reduces and cleanses storm water runoff. LEAF is free to all visitors and we invite you to explore the arboretum’s beauty during each season. Stroll along our pathways, sit at our “virtual tree” gazebo, walk amid shade, flowering and evergreen trees, and enjoy the beauty that is Cascade Creek. You can learn more about LEAF, its programs and events, and membership options by visiting our website, www.leaferie.org.

Sharing this for our friends at the Gem City Renaissance Festival! New location- It will be happening in McClelland Park this Sunday!

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD

Due to Frontier Park being closed until further notice, the Gem City Renaissance Festival has been relocated to McClelland Park. We are grateful to the City of Erie for working with us so closely on finding a new location in the face of current conditions.

Please come join us at McClelland Park Sunday September 6th from 10 am to 4 pm and enjoy a festival filled with vendors, demonstrators, entertainers, and the magic of Livaelore!

The City has closed Frontier Park until further notice, and cleanup from the storm is still ongoing. Therefore, we will not be able to safely move forward with this week's Frontier Friday or Saturday’s Open Market. In addition, we will be postponing LEAF's 25th Anniversary Celebration to a further date.

We are sad to cancel our events, but the park is in no shape to host visitors. The city is working hard to make the park safe, but no one should be visiting the park for any reason until the city ends their state of emergency. LEAF will likely organize a park cleanup, but not until a few weeks when the park has been cleared of all safety concerns.

Please stay safe and we hope you enjoy your weekend.

UPDATE: The City of Erie has now declared a State of Emergency and has closed City parks due to the widespread storm damage. Frontier Park is closed until further notice. Please do not enter the park, including to assist with cleanup. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has reached out offering to help. There will be opportunities to help once the park has been assessed and it is safe for volunteers to enter. 💚🌳

Our hearts are with Erie’s trees and everyone affected by the intense storm last night.

Seeing the destruction in the park and surrounding area due to the storm is nothing short of devastating. We are greatly saddened to see our beloved trees down after just one night of weather. That being said, please stay at home today and until the city can clear the trees away from the streets and walkways. There are trees down and pathways lifted or washed out in every section of the park. It is going to take the city and our team time to clear the area for safe entry, so please be patient. We will keep you posted about the status of this week’s Frontier Friday and Open Market.

LEAF is working towards a plan for community relief due to the destruction. In the meantime, please stay safe and help your neighbor where you can.

UPDATE: Due to storm damage to Frontier Park and the surrounding area, the September 4th Frontier Friday is CANCELLED.

Another great Frontier Friday is coming your way, and this one is bringing a little Beatles magic to Frontier Park!

Join us Friday from 6-8pm for live music from the Abbey Road band, bringing the sounds of the Beatles to the LEAF Amphitheater.

Grab dinner from Lil Wagon, drinks from Erie Ale Works, and settle in for a night of music on the rocks. Not a bad way to spend a Friday.

All made possible by our lovely sponsor, Volvo Cars Erie!

Gorgeous night at the park! Thanks for sharing your talents with us, Brooke! 💚🎶🌳

Tonight is Frontier Friday, so we thought we’d share some highlights from the last two concerts.

The Shaggy Dogs started us off strong with some classic rock and Mckenzie Sprague gave us incredible vocals on the rocks of Frontier Park.

Tonight at 6pm, Brooke Surgener will continue the good vibes with her folk-infused indie songwriting, perfect for a chill Friday night.

See you tonight!

On September 8, 2001, LEAF was formally dedicated as the nonprofit partner of Frontier Park. Twenty-five years later, we’re celebrating that moment and looking toward the next 25 years.

Join us on September 8, 2026, from 5:30–7pm at the LEAF Education Center as we reminisce, celebrate, and plant our 100,000th ReLeaf tree.

5:30pm | Reminisce & refreshments
6:00pm | Celebrate 25 years of LEAF
6:30pm | Plant the 100,000th ReLeaf tree

We’ll also have a photo booth, light desserts, and a chance to leave your mark in a time capsule that will be opened in another 25 years.

LEAF is more than the trees we’ve planted. It’s the community that cares for them and believes in a greener future for Erie. We hope you’ll join us as we celebrate 25 years of LEAF and plant the seeds for the next 25.

Another Friday, another night of live music at Frontier Friday!

Thanks to our friends at Volvo Cars Erie, we’re bringing you eight evenings of live music all summer long, and this week, Brooke Surgener is taking the stage with her indie/folk songwriting from 6-8pm.

And because no concert night is complete without good food and drinks, Erie Ale Works, Sundae, and E Dogg's Hot Dogs will be here to keep you fueled.

So grab a lawn chair, round up your people, and come settle in under the trees for a summer night at the park. Honestly, does summer in Erie get much better than that?

See you Friday!

A bit of rain won’t hurt us, but it would hurt the camera. Here’s just a few shots from Saturday’s partly rainy, then sunny, morning.

P.s. we love our market dogs 🐾

See you at the second last market on September 5!
