LEAF - Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park

LEAF - Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park The Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier (LEAF) is a tree museum located within Frontier Park, a city park in Erie, PA.

LEAF's mission is to create a greater awareness of the importance of trees to our lives by creating educational opportunities and outdoor experiences for our community. LEAF is home to over 1000 trees, a collection that grows in interest and diversity each year. Many of the trees in the arboretum have been sponsored and will display a plaque bearing the Latin and common name of the tree. LEAF has

transformed Frontier Park into a hub for community activity with a variety of educational offerings and outdoor experiences for all ages. LEAF is responsible for many of the improvements to Frontier Park ranging from bridges and pathways to increased accessibility. The LEAF Education Center, which is available for rent, provides restroom facilities, serves as an indoor classroom, and features a vegetative roof that reduces and cleanses storm water runoff. LEAF is free to all visitors and we invite you to explore the arboretum’s beauty during each season. Stroll along our pathways, sit at our “virtual tree” gazebo, walk amid shade, flowering and evergreen trees, and enjoy the beauty that is Cascade Creek. You can learn more about LEAF, its programs and events, and membership options by visiting our website, www.leaferie.org.

Move + Mingle Among the Trees was a success! The sun hung out with us as we moved and mingled with friends.

Thank you to Move + Mingle With Adele, Juice Jar, and ProStretch for coming together to prioritize getting outside, fueling our bodies and recovering afterward.

Way to go, everyone💪🌳

Happy Anniversary to the Franklin Park Tiny Forest!

Three years ago, LEAF staff, volunteers, and community members came together to plant 500 trees in the heart of Franklin Park. Using the Miyawaki method, a diverse mix of native trees was planted closely together, encouraging competition for sunlight and driving rapid vertical growth. As the forest matures, certain species naturally emerge as leaders and help accelerate the development of the canopy. At Franklin Park, honey locust and willow trees have taken the crown.

The Franklin Park Tiny Forest was the second planted by LEAF, joining three others at Mercyhurst University, Joanna Connell School, and Gannon University.

Stop by this week to see how much these trees have grown and help us wish the Franklin Park Tiny Forest a happy birthday!
