Today, a newly renovated sensory room was officially unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Elizabeth Lee Black School. Designed to support students with a wide range of sensory needs, this space provides guided therapeutic experiences that help students regulate, focus, and engage more fully in learning.

This project was made possible through the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber Foundation and supporters of the 2025 Ladies Only Luncheon. This space will benefit countless students for years to come. Thank you for investing in opportunities that empower every student to thrive.

We are honored to announce Matt and Karen Clark as the chairs of the 2026 Barber Christmas Ball: Vision of a Christmas Journey. Longtime Erie-area residents, the Clarks have supported schools, nonprofit organizations, fundraising events, and neighbors in need.

This year’s theme holds special meaning for Matt and Karen. It honors their daughter Rachel, whose courage and compassion continue to inspire them—and whose enduring message, “I enjoyed my journey. I want you to enjoy your journey,” reminds us that even when life takes an unexpected path, beauty, kindness, and hope can still be found along the way.

As chairs, Matt and Karen invite guests to celebrate resilience, strengthen community, and help ensure that no family has to navigate its journey alone.

Congratulations to Sharon Waldo who recently received a National DSP Recognition Award from Tarrytown Expocare Pharmacy for making a remarkable difference in the lives of the individuals she serves. For more than two decades, Sharon has been a shining example of compassion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to our mission. She is one of the strongest advocates for our individuals and we are incredibly fortunate to have her as part of our team.

Recently, our Bollinger Campus represented Barber National Institute at the Annual Nickel Challenge in Warren, PA. Each year, nickels and coins are donated to form lines and designs across the bridge to kick off the United Fund of Warren County’s Torchlight Campaign. Our theme this year was "dreams" 🌌
