It's official! SMART JOCKS is a Mercyhurst University recognized club on campus. Congratulations to the Mercyhurst University SMART JOCKS CLUB (SJC) in Kicking-Off the first event as an official club.

The team was representing the Booker T. Washington Center (BTWC) and Minority Community Investment Coalition (MCIC) in the Non-Profit Draft. In the 14th pick of the draft the team choose February 18th Happy Hour Friday/College ID Night to have as the BTWC and MCIC Non-Profit of the Night. The team picked this night to celebrate the BTWC for being one of the oldest African American Organizations in Erie county in recognition of Black History Month.

MCIC is made up of the Booker T. Washington Center, the Urban Erie Community Development Corporation and the Martin Luther King Center. MCIC has been working to provide meals, coronavirus testing and information for people in impoverished communities.

MCIC setting the foundation on February 21, 2019 with a $40,000 donation from LECOM to Help Develop Savocchio Business Park for the initial development of the 19 acre site on East 17th St. The group hopes to create new businesses and jobs on the site.
