story [Translated]
Hello, my name is Iryna, I'm from Ukraine.
I lived in the suburbs of Kharkov until difficult times came for us.
The word war is difficult to use because it immediately brings tears to my eyes.
We are waiting for the birth of our son, and I am sure that after what he survived, our son Andrew will be a very strong man!
In early pregnancy, we all fell ill with COVID.
I thought it was the worst thing that could happen to us!
Then at the 20th week of pregnancy, the bombing of our city began. From 2/24/22 I lived in the basement, it was very scary to go outside, to go home.
We sat in that basement with the hope that this horror would end, but we had no idea what it was possible at all. After the news from friends who lived closer to the epicenter of the attack, it became clear that they would not stop anytime soon.
On day 5/6, in 15 minutes, we went up to the house, packed our things and left, all we knew was that we were going away from the explosions and horror.
Thunder and fireworks are still a horror for all of us.
I cried all the way.
Thank God we were helped by everyone, even those who did not know us.
But our hearts and souls were torn to pieces.
We left everything, but the most valuable thing with us was our two sons, and each other.
The road was very difficult and long in my condition.
To write a lot about the past is devastating, about the threat of miscarriage, about crossing the border with Poland, about another country where we knew neither the language nor where to go, like millions of Ukrainians.
But all the time, all the way, the Lord protected us!
In the second month of the war, our house was badly damaged, there is nowhere to go back yet, but there are good sides here too - thank God everyone is alive!
Now here we are, on US land, with only the most valuable things that can be- and I am sure that everything will be fine, because so far the Lord has not left us and I am sure that he will always be with us.
