Today, 12 members of the Afghan Community of Erie proudly began a new chapter at Erie County Technical School, where they will be learning auto body inspection skills.

This opportunity represents more than just training. It is a pathway toward growth, independence, and contribution. Upon graduation, these individuals will not only build better futures for themselves but also give back to the community that supports them.

We remain committed to working closely with ECTS and other partners to create more opportunities for our community members to learn new skills, succeed, and contribute meaningfully to Erie.

Yesterday, the Afghan Community of Erie, Pennsylvania hosted a beautiful Iftar event, bringing together people from different communities, backgrounds, and faiths to break bread together.

Ramadan is a very special and spiritual month for Muslims. This gathering was not only about breaking our fast, it was about building connections, strengthening relationships, and bringing our communities closer together.

The message was simple and clear: hate is not the answer. We must choose love, kindness, and understanding.

Erie continues to be a powerful example of belonging. A place where people accept, respect, and support one another.

We would also like to sincerely thank Hamot Health Foundation and Erie Federal Credit Union for their generous support in making this event possible. A special thanks to the members of the Afghan community for preparing such delicious food and desserts.

Peace. 🤍

Today, the Afghan Community of Erie received a very thoughtful and heartfelt gift in our mailbox. A Ramadan gift basket and beautiful cards from the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, signed by many members of their church, wishing our community a blessed and peaceful Ramadan.

This gift was a personal gesture to our community, but we wanted to share it publicly to show Erie and people across the country what true community looks like.

We may follow different religions or faiths, but what matters most is that at the end of the day, we stand together, support one another, and show kindness and respect.

This may seem like a small basket, but it means so much to Afghan community members. It is a reminder that we are seen, welcomed, and valued.

Moments like this are exactly why we proudly call Erie our home. This is what it means to be a Welcoming City. A city where people care for one another, celebrate each other’s traditions, and lead with compassion.

As you shared in your message that you join us in prayer during Ramadan, the Afghan Community of Erie wishes you the same and joins you in prayer during your Lenten season. May this time be filled with peace, reflection, and compassion for all.

Thank you to the Benedictine Sisters of Erie for this meaningful gesture and for reminding us that humanity, kindness, and unity are stronger than any differences.
