Today, the Afghan Community of Erie Pennsylvania joins our fellow Americans in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the victims, their families, the courageous first responders, and everyone whose life was forever changed by that tragic day. We recognize that, even after 25 years, the pain and sacrifice remain deeply felt by many families and communities.

As members of the Erie community, we stand together against hatred and violence and remain committed to peace, unity, and compassion for one another.

Today, members of the Afghan Community of Erie Pennsylvania joined other community partners to clean up fallen trees from the recent storm. Through great teamwork, we were able to help three neighbors clean up their backyards.

Our community members also promised to return in the coming days to mow the lawn and clean the backyard of a woman with a disability.

We are proud to work together and support our neighbors during difficult times. This is what community is all about!

Today, we wrapped up our grocery assistance campaign for families affected by the storm.

We received many messages from families in need. Unfortunately, we were not able to deliver groceries to everyone, and we sincerely apologize to those we could not reach. With the resources available to us, we tried our very best to help as many families as possible.

We are incredibly grateful to the members of the Afghan community who generously contributed from their own pockets, purchased groceries, and volunteered their time to make the deliveries

Thank you to everyone who supported this effort. May God bless and protect our entire community.

We just delivered groceries to two more families affected by last night’s storm.

We cannot thank the members of the Afghan community enough for stepping up tonight to help their neighbors during this difficult time.

We are receiving many messages requesting grocery assistance. We want to kindly clarify that our support is intended for families directly affected by the storm and power outages. Our community members are paying for these groceries out of their own pockets, as we do not have a food bank or dedicated funds for this effort.

We will continue helping as many affected families as we can with the limited resources available to us.

Happy 107th Independence Day, Afghanistan 🇦🇫

August 19 marks the day Afghanistan regained control of its foreign affairs in 1919 after the Third Anglo-Afghan War, under the leadership of King Amanullah Khan. This historic day represents Afghanistan’s sovereignty, courage, and determination to shape its own future.

For Afghans, Independence Day is a celebration of our history, culture, identity, and love for our homeland. Although many of us now live far from Afghanistan, we continue to carry its traditions and values in our hearts.

The Afghan Community of Erie is proud to share this meaningful celebration with our friends and neighbors in the city we now call home.

Happy Independence Day to Afghans in Erie, Afghanistan, and around the world!
