MY Work Partnership:
Summer Work Experience Concludes A Successful Season
The Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR), the Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services, Opportunities Unlimited, and the Sight Center joined together to create a meaningful summer work experience opportunity for four youth participants.
We enjoyed a highly successful and rewarding summer program in the garden. Participants helped cultivate vegetables, herbs, spices, and flowers while also experiencing the camaraderie that comes from working together toward a shared goal.
Throughout the summer, we set out to learn, harvest, create, and beautify. Thanks to the dedication, care, and hard work of the students, the garden is in pristine condition and serves as a lasting reflection of their efforts.
Our celebratory luncheon gave the students, and program partners an opportunity to share stories, discuss their experiences, and reflect on how the program helped them develop valuable workplace skills and gain insight into real-world employment.
While we are sad to see the students go, we are excited about the bright futures ahead of them. We know they will accomplish great things in their lives and careers. They leave us with rewarding memories and a sense of pride in all that we accomplished together. It has been an honor to support their growth, celebrate their achievements, and be part of their journey this summer.
