When recreating on public lands, it’s important to always practice with wild horses and b***os to ensure your presence does not disturb their natural behavior, especially since foaling season has begun in many areas. A good rule of thumb is to maintain at least 100 feet between you and a wild horse or b***o, though a larger distance may be required in specific situations, such as when at water locations or watching mares with very young foals. Open or closed, always leave gates as you find them. Follow any posted signage and, when in doubt, contact your local BLM office. And remember: feeding, watering and harassing wild horses and b***os is dangerous and always prohibited.
