Spaying and neutering pets is the most important piece of the pet overpopulation puzzle. At LBK9, we believe everyone should have access to an affordable spay or neuter surgery for their pet and are committed to providing those surgeries.

Thanks to our incredible veterinary partners and the support of generous funders, we can offer subsidized surgeries to income-eligible families in King and Pierce Counties.

Cassie has finally found a home!

This little lady's journey is one we’ll never forget. She came to us last fall as a puppy with serious medical needs. After undergoing extensive surgery and months of recovery, Cassie blossomed in her foster home.

Each photo shows her transformation from when we found her - fragile and timid - to how she is now: full of life and a big fan of holiday outfits!

We’ll miss her dearly, but we’re thrilled she has a forever home. Her new family is ready to give her the long, healthy life she deserves. Thank you to all the vets, her foster family, donors, and supporters who made Cassie's story possible!

We’re thrilled to announce that The Gary Milgard Family Foundation has awarded us a generous grant to expand our Spay + Neuter program in Pierce County!

This incredibly generous grant will allow us to subsidize the costs of an estimated 125 spay/neuter surgeries for dogs and cats in Pierce County over the next three months. Our Spay + Neuter program has been lowering surgery costs for pet owners across King and Pierce counties for the past two years, but this grant will take our operations to the next level.

Interested in a subsidized spay/neuter surgery for your dog or cat? Fill out an application at the link below!

If your pets are already fixed but you want to help our work, share this email with a pet owner in Pierce County (think Tacoma, Puyallup, Buckley, Bonney Lake, parts of Auburn, etc.) to let them know about this exciting new program!

🍈 WE MELON LOVE WITH CANTALOUPE 🍈

When little Cantaloupe arrived at Left Behind K-9, he was in rough shape. His tiny jaw was wounded and in desperate need of medical care. But thanks to our incredible team of volunteers and partner veterinarians, he received the surgery and recovery support he needed to heal!

With love, patience, and plenty of snuggles in foster care, Cantaloupe grew stronger each day, proving that resilience comes in the tiniest of packages! And now, we're overjoyed to share that this sweet boy has found his forever home!

Thank you to everyone who played a role in his rescue and recovery, you make stories like his possible!

Lucy needs a new home!

Lucy is a three-year-old lab/hound mix who, due to some family circumstances, needs a new place to live. This big-eared lady with a big smile has some slight allergy issues but otherwise is a very healthy, very happy dog. She currently lives in the Buckley area.

If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Lucy, please send us a message!

LBK9 is currently accepting requests for reduced cost spay and neuter surgeries for local pets!

We have partnered with a group of local veterinary hospitals to help address the pet overpopulation crisis. This program is made possible by critical funds raised at Come Together two weeks ago and the generous vet partners. Together, we can increase spay and neuter accessibility for income-eligible families in our community and help control the pet population.

If you or someone you know is in need of this critical service, please fill out the form below or email us at [email protected]. We will provide more detailed information via email. Approved applicants will be scheduled for surgery at one of our partner clinics as soon as possible.

Then and now, a Tucker story!

We got a very heartwarming update today from Susie O'Gruntmeir on LBK9's very first rescue. We took Tucker, then known as "Tuff" in from a shelter in Kent in November, 2011. As you can see, he was malnourished and in rough shape. We took him in and helped him find Susie, who adopted him a month later.

Nearly 160 months later, Tucker is blind and deaf but has a fully functioning nose. He loves to nap and bask in the sun and has kept his survivor's spirit well into his old age. In a message to us, Susie said, "I can't imagine my life without Tucker and I'm grateful for the time I've had him."

Our hearts are warmed (and our eyes a little misted!) to hear our first alum is still doing so well nearly a decade and a half after we took him in. Thanks to Susie and all our incredible adopters for opening up their homes and hearts for rescues like Tucker!

🐶 Cassie is "hopping" to get adopted! 🐰

Cassie is a 9-month-old pup who originally came to LBK9 with some diaphragm issues that needed surgery to repair. We paid for her surgery and she has been recovering and thriving in foster care ever since. Now fully healed, Cassie is ready to find her forever home.

Cassie is spayed, has all her shots, loves playing with other dogs and can hang with kids, cats, and even chickens! She is still working on house training but takes to direction well and loves to please for a treat.

If you're interested in adopting Cassie, please fill out our adoption form at this link: https://forms.gle/EgrqTkDvgx3Rz9kP7

Let's pack the farm for Come Together 12 on Saturday, May 3rd!

Come Together, our annual fundraising spectacular, is back at a new venue this year: Legacy Farms in Buckley. The new venue allows us to add lots of new wrinkles to the event, including live music from The Fabulous Murphtones, pouring our own local beer and wine, catering with some delicious homemade BBQ, and incorporating the nature and wildlife Legacy Farms has to offer.

Tickets to CT12 are $100 and proceeds support our life-saving rescue work and our spay/neuter program.

Get your tickets at the link below to help us fill the farm with LBK9 supporters for the biggest night of our year: https://leftbehindk9rescue.networkforgood.com/events/81507-come-together-12-barks-boots
