The staff and Board of Directors of WEDC sincerely appreciate the City of Enterprise’s continued investment in our organization. This support enables us to attract new businesses and industries, strengthen existing employers, and foster opportunities for entrepreneurs and small businesses to grow and thrive within our community.

Mayor William E. Cooper, Sr. met with Jimmy Black of Southeast Gas and Jesse Quillen of Wiregrass Economic Development Corporation to talk about continued investment in Enterprise’s growth.

The City of Enterprise, Ala. qualified to receive $13,000 in Community Betterment Funds from Southeast Gas and, in recent years, has chosen to invest those funds into WEDC to support local economic development efforts.

That investment helps recruit new businesses and industry, support existing employers, and create opportunities for entrepreneurs and small businesses to grow right here in our community.

It’s partnerships like this that keep Enterprise moving forward and building a strong, sustainable future.

Be aware and always place safety first. It's important to "move over" and give linemen and utility workers room to work safely.

When you see our utility vehicles on the side of the road, please slow down, move over and give our lineworkers the space to work safely.

“Move Over” is not only the law in all 50 states but is also the courteous and safe thing to do.

In anticipation of the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026, the City of Enterprise, Ala. is proud to announce its official designation as an America250AL Semiquincentennial City and the formation of the Enterprise Honors America's 250 Committee, which will lead local planning and programming for this historic milestone. 🇺🇸📜🦅

The committee, led by the Pea River Historical & Genealogical Society, is composed of community leaders, educators, veterans, business owners, historians and civic volunteers. Together, they will guide Enterprise’s efforts to commemorate the nation’s Semiquincentennial through inclusive, educational and community-focused initiatives that honor America’s founding and reflect the unique story of Enterprise.

In addition, each campus within Enterprise City Schools has been officially named a Semiquincentennial School. Flags and commemorative banners are now displayed at every school, symbolizing a district-wide commitment to civic education and participation in the America 250 initiative.

By encouraging residents to explore American history, the principles of democracy and the responsibilities of citizenship, these efforts aim to deepen understanding of the founding values that have shaped both Alabama and the nation. Planned activities may include educational programs, historical exhibits, community festivals, veteran recognition ceremonies, public art projects and legacy initiatives designed to foster civic pride and responsibility.

“Being named an America 250 Alabama Semiquincentennial City is a point of great pride for the City of Enterprise,” said Mayor William E. Cooper. “Our community has a rich history marked by perseverance and triumph over adversity, and this commemoration gives us the opportunity to share that story while honoring the broader American journey.”

Cooper said the designation will be incorporated into various upcoming events throughout the city.

“As we look ahead to America’s 250th anniversary, we are excited to celebrate through festivals, events and programs that educate, engage and unite our community. I encourage our citizens to get involved and help shape a meaningful celebration for our city, our state and our country.”

The Enterprise Honors America’s 250 Committee will work in partnership with the Alabama USA Semiquincentennial Commission to align local efforts with statewide and national goals.

“We are excited to showcase Enterprise during the America 250 celebrations,” said Enterprise Honors America 250 Chair Amanda Skinner. “Our community has always embodied the spirit of America through its support for our military, civic pride, commitment to education and dedication to preserving history. The America250AL initiatives will allow us to shine a spotlight on the meaningful work our civic groups are engaged in throughout the year.”

“America 250 Alabama is more than a celebration — it is a chance to reflect on our past and share how Alabama’s history helped shape the nation,” said Natalie Steed, Executive Officer of the Alabama USA Semiquincentennial Commission. “We are excited to work with local committees across the state and are proud to see the City of Enterprise taking the lead in planning thoughtful and impactful events to mark this historic occasion.”

Organizations and individuals interested in participating in planning efforts or hosting Semiquincentennial-related events are encouraged to get involved. A page, Enterprise Honors America's 250, has been created to promote and document local events.

A formal proclamation recognizing Enterprise as an America 250 Alabama Semiquincentennial City will be signed by Mayor William E. Cooper in March. Community groups, civic organizations and partners interested in participating in the proclamation ceremony are encouraged to contact the Mayor’s Office at (334) 348-2602 for additional details.
