"Diversity is the pattern of life, but it can only fulfil its life-giving promises if we allow it the space it needs to thrive. A river only brings life to the land if it is free to meander; if we use concrete and culverts to make it tidy and straight, the water, and life with it, drain away. If we want to cultivate life, we need to live like a river unrestrained. We need to lean into each unique twist and turn as no more or less valid and life-giving than the last."

WE ARE APPLYING TO BE RE-ACCREDITED!
Our first accreditation was achieved in 2016. This will be our second renewal. The public comment period is now open.

Stakeholder Notification/Public Notice

The land trust accreditation program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever. Wallowa Land Trust is pleased to announce it is applying for accreditation renewal. A public comment period is now open.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs. Being accredited means adhering to the most rigorous national standards for the permanent land conservation and stewardship.

The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how Wallowa Land Trust complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards see http://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-elements.

To learn more about the accreditation program and to submit a comment, visit www.landtrustaccreditation.org/why-accreditation-matters/comment, or email your comment to [email protected]. Comments may also be mailed to the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, Attn: Public Comments, 36 Phila Street, Suite 2, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Comments on Wallowa Land Trusts application will be most useful by July 1, 2026.
