Did you have a relative who belonged to the Enon Odd Fellows Lodge 916? We were recently given several boxes of Lawrence County Odd Fellows Ledgers and By Laws, which includes Enon, Rock Point, Ellwood City, and New Castle.

There are duplicates of the By Laws, if anyone wants them as a memento. We can't possibly keep everything, but we would welcome anyone who wants to scan some of the pages. It is fun to see familiar names like Zeh and Inboden in those old books.

They had been stored in the old Rock Point Lodge building near Wampum that has been gone many years, so there is some dirt and water damage to contend with. Some of the booklets are from the 1990s, but I don't think Enon Lodge survived much past the 1970s. Does anyone know how long it existed?

This photo represents just some of our Historical Society Members after surviving Community Day. We also had many Volunteers and friends who helped us, especially the Enon Valley Community Volunteer Fire Department and Enon Presbyterian Church. We are so thankful for a fun and successful Community Day, despite the smoky skies and threatening weather. We are looking forward to upcoming Celebrate Enon Events: Pioneers and Patriots Cemetery Tour, Octoberfest, and Light Up Night, with some other possible events in between. We meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month @7 pm, usually at the Fire Hall. Membership is $5 per Individual and $10 per Family. Enon Valley Community Day was a fun time for all Ages, from our Grand Marshal, Mr. Roy Shetler, aged 99, all the way to our very first Lil' Miss and Mr. Enon Valley, Eve and Calvin! The Reenactors traveled many miles to help us Celebrate America 250. We are thankful to all the Community Groups that came together to make the day possible, despite dodging rain drops and the threat of storms all around us. We are proud to represent Enon Valley's Past, Present, and Future together!

Woodhouse Bopp and Co silk West Pittsburg 1910 this is the building the Panella company was in years later. Interestingly enough it was not the only place silk worms were raised locally. Silk was produced at Old Economy and in Darlington.

Woodhouse, Bopp & Company was a prominent historical silk manufacturing firm originally based in New York City.
The company is best remembered for establishing a major industrial silk mill in West Pittsburgh, Lawrence County,

Pennsylvania, which operated during the height of the American silk boom in the early 20th century.
In early 1904, Woodhouse, Bopp & Co. opened a small test facility in the newly planned industrial village of West Pittsburg, PA, to determine if silk could be successfully produced in the region.

Following their initial success, the company built a large, multi-story brick silk mill along Industrial Street in mid-1905.

The factory primarily employed women and children, who were favored at the time for the highly delicate, precise labor required to spin, wind, and weave silk cloth. Local accounts note that silkworms were even raised on-site or nearby to harvest cocoons
