We have had people question why our flag was not at half staff today.
When we changed from our regular flag to the larger flag for the summer the flagpole winch mechanism broke. We are not able to raise or lower the flag right now but we are working on it. So very sorry. We definitely meant no disrespect.

Hi everyone! Getting ready to head to the memorial for our first cleanup May 9th. Starting to get ready for the Fourth of July brick dedication ceremony!Will be sweeping those beautiful stairs. (Update on the stairs coming soon) want to thank you all again for the support and love. 10:00 cleanup if your in town stop by and say hi.

Although we aren’t done yet. I want to take a minute and thank this beautiful community for jumping in yesterday and getting the demolition stopped. We know now the school board was not involved with the decision to demo the stairs and I apologize if I misspoke when I assumed that you all had approved it. But boy did you all jump in to get it shut down if even temporarily. Thank you. I have never been so proud in 30+ years to call this place home! The list is to long for me to thank you all individually for rallying together so fast! The fight is not completely done but after 2+ years of trying to do it alone I have never been so blessed to have all of you fighting for this beautiful historic piece of Ennis with me. The stair project has been put on hold. Thank you so much everyone! I will be down there this morning about 11 if anyone wants to talk or wants any more info. But I can’t thank you all enough. There are so many to name just please know important this was to me and from what I learned yesterday so many many people in this town! Love and respect to you all!

So very sorry. I tried to save the stairs funded by WAP in 1938 and built by locals. But I was told they are a liability issue. I’m so sad this piece of Ennis history will be gone soon. ( starting demolition Monday) Replaced by concrete steps and walls. Me and my husband and hopefully some friends, will be there Saturday morning to at least try to save some of the rock. Before it’s hauled off and tossed.

Tomorrow morning at 0800 the United States Marine Corps Flag will be raised in front of the courthouse in honor of their 250th birthday!
