📻🔥 Calling All Amateur Radio Operators! 🔥📻

We’re planning another round of the Emergency Operations Center: Wildfire Mayhem Exercise on June 6th at 1:00 PM.

This interactive exercise places participants in an Emergency Operations Center during a rapidly evolving wildfire incident, requiring coordination, communication, and problem-solving under pressure.

If we have enough participants, we’ll expand the exercise into a multi-room radio communications drill, providing an opportunity to practice passing traffic, maintaining situational awareness, and supporting emergency operations using amateur radio.

Whether you’re an experienced operator or new to emergency communications, this is a great opportunity to sharpen your skills and work alongside fellow radio amateurs in a realistic emergency management environment.

4:30PM Update:

The northwestern storm is now moving off to the NE toward the Pond Creek area. We now have a storm going up to the SE of Bison/Waukomis. Storms still remain under severe limits.

We will keep an eye on it.

This month’s program will feature an overview of the AREDN Mesh Network presented by Chuck Hast, KP4DJT. We are inviting emergency management, police, fire, EMS, hospitals, and other organizations across NW Oklahoma to attend and learn how amateur radio mesh networking can support communications and emergency response capabilities.

❄️ Winter Weather Reminder ❄️

Cold temperatures are here, and a little preparation goes a long way in keeping your family safe.

✅ Check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
✅ Never leave candles or heaters unattended
✅ Insulate, seal drafts, and bring pets indoors
✅ Dress warmly and limit time outside
✅ Prepare your vehicle with a winter emergency kit
✅ Keep your gas tank full and check antifreeze and tire pressure

If power lines go down, call your local utility and emergency services—never approach them.

Stay weather-aware, take precautions, and look out for your neighbors during this winter season.
