Day 8 Continued!

After a full and rewarding day of ministry, our team enjoyed a relaxing dinner at Albamar, one of our favorite traditions. It’s a place we look forward to visiting every year, and it was the perfect opportunity to unwind, share stories from the day, and enjoy time together as a team.

Of course, no trip to Albamar would be complete without our annual ride down the famous slide! It brought plenty of laughter and reminded us that even in the middle of busy days of ministry, it’s important to enjoy the fellowship God has given us.

Earlier in the day, we found ourselves needing a few extra supplies. Without hesitation, Efraín generously offered me his car so I could make a quick trip to the store. I didn’t tell him that my U.S. driver’s license had expired… Just kidding—I didn’t really drive! 😄 Efraín got us where we needed to go safely, and we were able to pick up everything we needed for the day’s ministry.

It’s moments like these—the shared meals, the laughter, the unexpected adventures, and the incredible generosity of our Guatemalan friends—that make these mission trips so memorable. We thank God not only for the opportunities to serve but also for the friendships He continues to strengthen year after year.

Day 8 – San Cristóbal

Today we were grateful to return to San Cristóbal, a community where we have been blessed to serve for many years. It is always encouraging to reconnect with friends, see familiar faces, and witness how God continues to work through the local church. Even though this community has experienced great tragedy, their faith remains steadfast, and their joy and hope in Christ continue to shine brightly.

All three of our ministry teams stayed busy throughout the day. Our medical clinic cared for more than 80 patients, providing both medical treatment and the opportunity to share the love of Christ. Our VBS team welcomed more than 50 children for an afternoon filled with Bible lessons, songs, crafts, and lots of laughter.

Our ministry bag team had the opportunity to deliver two bags directly to families in the community. In addition, several other families came to the church to receive their ministry bags. This provided a meaningful opportunity to spend time with them, pray over their families, and encourage them with God’s Word.

Every conversation, every prayer, and every act of service reminds us that ministry is about far more than meeting physical needs—it’s about sharing the hope of Christ. The resilience and unwavering faith of the people in San Cristóbal have been an encouragement to our entire team. Thank you for continuing to pray for our team, our local ministry partners, and the people of Guatemala. We are grateful for all that God is doing through this mission.

Day 7 Continues – Youth Rally

Our day ended with a wonderful evening of fellowship at a youth rally. We worshiped together, singing songs in Spanish alongside our Guatemalan brothers and sisters in Christ. It was a beautiful reminder that, even across different languages and cultures, we serve the same Savior.

Following the worship time, Elias shared a heartfelt and moving testimony of God’s faithfulness in his life. Our youth team then had the opportunity to bless the congregation by singing a song in English.

Of course, no youth gathering would be complete without a little friendly competition! The evening wrapped up with a lively soccer match. We may not all have professional soccer skills, but we certainly had plenty of enthusiasm! Special recognition goes to Nonie and Lena. Nonie’s foot was on fire, while Lena was an absolute wall in the goal box.

It was the perfect ending to another full day of ministry, laughter, worship, and building friendships that only eternity will fully reveal. Please continue praying that the relationships formed this week will bear lasting fruit for God’s kingdom.

Day 7 – Our Mission Continues in Cojax

Today I was especially excited to return to Cojax, a community that has held a special place in our hearts since our very first mission trip. It is always a blessing to reconnect with familiar faces and see how God continues to work in this area.

All three of our ministries were in full swing today. Our medical clinic served patients throughout the day, while another team delivered ministry bags filled with food, medicine, and other essentials to families in the morning. In the afternoon, our VBS team shared the love of Christ through Bible lessons, songs, and crafts with the children.

One of the church members generously opened his home for us to use as the medical clinic. Not only did he welcome us with incredible hospitality, but he also prepared a wonderful meal for our entire team. We are continually humbled by the kindness and generosity of the people we meet.

After a quick dinner back at the hotel, several members of our team attended a youth rally. During the service, Elias shared his powerful testimony, and our youth had the opportunity to worship by performing a song. It was a wonderful evening of encouragement and a reminder that God is working across generations.

Thank you for continuing to pray for our team, our local ministry partners, and the people of Guatemala. We are grateful to be part of what God is doing here.

Day 6 Continues!

We ended the day with a fellowship dinner at our favorite pizza place in Totonicapán, Balcones. After a full day of ministry, it was a blessing to slow down, share a meal, laugh together, and enjoy sweet fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Moments like these strengthen the friendships we’ve built and remind us that, although we may come from different countries and cultures, we are united as one family through Christ.

It was the perfect way to end another incredible day of serving together.

Day 6 – Market Day in Totonicapán and Horeb Church

This morning we had the opportunity to visit the local market in Totonicapán. It was a memorable experience to shop, interact with local vendors, and get a glimpse into everyday life and culture in Guatemala.

After the market, we walked to our mission point for the day, Horeb Church. When we arrived, our team was welcomed with a delicious meal prepared by the ladies of the church. Their hospitality and generosity were such a blessing.

Following lunch, our medical team opened the clinic while the rest of the team led VBS activities for the children rotating them through crafts and Bible lessons. Throughout the afternoon, team members were also pulled aside to deliver ministry bags to families the church had invited to receive one. Each visit gave us the opportunity to share the Gospel, pray over specific needs, and encourage these families with both practical help and the hope found in Christ.

We ended the afternoon by giving each child one of the handmade backpacks. Watching their faces light up as they received these special gifts was a moment we will never forget.

The medical team continued to stay busy throughout the day, caring for many patients and meeting both physical and spiritual needs.

Day 5 – Travel Day

Today was a travel day as our team made the journey from Huehuetenango back to Totonicapán. Before leaving, we had the opportunity to tour local ruins and visit the museum on site, learning more about the rich history and culture of Guatemala.

For lunch, we enjoyed a meal at one of our favorite stops, Pollo Campero. A tradition our team always enjoys.

After arriving at our hotel in the Totonicapán area, we spent the afternoon shopping for the remaining supplies needed for our mission projects. The evening was filled with organizing, packing, and preparing for the next few days of ministry.

Thank you for continuing to pray for our team. Please pray that God would prepare the hearts of those we will meet, give us strength for the days ahead, and use us to share His love in both word and action. We are excited to see what He has in store!

Day 4 Continues

Our day didn’t end after our time in Chinacá. Following lunch, we traveled back to Huehuetenango to attend a service at the church led by our local pastor. It was a special opportunity to worship alongside our Guatemalan brothers and sisters in Christ.

At the beginning of the service, our team had the privilege of singing a song in Spanish. After the opening worship, the children were dismissed, and our VBS team was able to lead a time of Bible lessons, songs, and crafts with the kids. Shout out here to the creator of our crafts, Carrie Johnson, the kids have truly loved them.

During the service, one of our team members shared his personal testimony, giving glory to God for His faithfulness and the work He has done in his life. It was a powerful reminder that while language and culture may differ, the Gospel unites believers around the world.

Since it was Father’s Day, we would also like to give a special shout-out to the dads serving on this trip. Thank you for your willingness to lead by example, sacrifice your time, and use your gifts to serve the Lord and the people of Guatemala. We are grateful for the impact you are making both here and at home.

We also want to honor the fathers we are separated from today. While many of us wish we could be celebrating with our dads and families, we are thankful for their love, support, prayers, and encouragement that make this ministry possible. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads who continue to point their families toward Christ.

Day 4 on mission in Guatemala

Today we reunited with our medical team and served together at a new mission point called Chinacá. The medical clinic operated throughout the day while another team delivered ministry bags filled with food and medicine to local families selected by the church.

This is a new church plant that does not yet have a building of its own, so we were incredibly grateful that a local man generously opened his home for us to use as our ministry base for the day. He was even kind enough to have lunch prepared for our entire team.

Since VBS was not scheduled, we took the opportunities to interact with the children who came to the clinic. As families departed, we distributed backpacks filled with a stuffed animal, a toy, crayons and a coloring book. It was a joy to see the smiles on the kid’s faces and to share a small reminder of God’s love with each one.

Over the past two days, our medical team has cared for approximately 150 patients. Even more exciting, we have witnessed around 30 people make professions of faith in Christ. We praise God for the physical and spiritual healing taking place and are thankful for every opportunity to share the hope of Christ.

Thank you for continuing to pray for our team, the medical clinic, and the growing ministry in Chinacá. We are thankful for the doors God is opening and for the opportunity to serve alongside His people here in Guatemala.
