Members of the Enid Police Department’s Police Explorers Program visited Topeka, Kansas, this weekend for the Capital Challenge.

Our Explorers competed in 10 law enforcement challenges, ranging from Active Shooter to Crisis Negotiation, against teams from six different states.

One Explorer also competed in the Top Explorer Challenge.
A special thanks goes to Officer Tara Turner-Coleman and Sgt. Tyler Evans for accompanying the group this weekend.

Enid Police Department’s Police Explorers Program is accepting applications from area youth with an interest in the field of law enforcement.

The program is for all interested youth ages 14 to 20 from the surrounding area.

Explorers meet 6 to 9 p.m. every other Wednesday at the Enid Police Department Training Center, 401 W. State.

Participants will be assigned uniforms, learn everyday ins and outs of policework, and work alongside our officers at events.

Applications are available between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Records Division of the Enid Police Department, 301 W. Garriott.

Applicants must be able to pass a background check and undergo an interview with officers involved with the program, as well as current Explorers.

Those with questions can email Officer Tobias Plucinski at [email protected].
