Correspondence: P.O. Rotary is a service organization, carrying on humanitarian projects both locally and worldwide. Locally, the focus in recent years has been on services to youth. The Club sponsors an I

nteract Club at Dwight Morrow High School, a React Club at Janis E. Dismus Middle School, and the annual RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) six-day conference for qualified seniors. Each year the Club organizes “Career Shadowing” days during which Dwight Morrow students develop perspective about potential careers by spending a day with local professionals and business people. Internationally, the Club’s most popular program has been “Gift of Life,” bringing children from around the world to the United States for life-saving heart surgery not available in their home countries. The Club has also participated in Rotary International’s Youth Exchange program, under which local students spend a year in a foreign country and Englewood in turn hosts a foreign student. In order to support its charitable activities, the Club organizes fund-raising events, of which the most important is its annual Community Awards dinner in May.

As Rotarians, we come from different backgrounds, professions, cultures, and beliefs, yet we are united by a shared commitment to Service Above Self.

In a world that often needs more understanding, kindness, and leadership, the Rotarian Code of Conduct serves as a powerful reminder that how we serve is just as important as what we do.

The Rotarian Code of Conduct is included in Rotary International governance documents and Rotary’s official conduct policies.

Today we had the privilege of welcoming our featured speaker, Obie L. McKenzie.

With more than 50 years of leadership in the investment industry, including executive roles with Morgan Stanley, Citibank, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, UBS Asset Management, and BlackRock, Mr. McKenzie shared his remarkable journey and how his faith helped shape his commitment to leadership, stewardship, and community service.

His message was a reminder that our values, experiences, and personal journeys often inspire us to serve others and make a lasting impact in the communities we call home.

Rotary welcomes people of all backgrounds and beliefs. While we do not promote any particular religion, we respect that faith may be part of a speaker’s personal story. We listen with respect and focus on the message, experiences, and lessons being shared.

Thank you, Mr. McKenzie, for sharing your wisdom, insights, and decades of experience with our club.

On June 29, we will celebrate one of Rotary’s most meaningful traditions—our Installation Ceremony—as we proudly install our Incoming President, Henry Washington, along with our Club Officers and Directors for the 2026-2027 Rotary year.

As we close a year filled with meaningful service, impactful projects, and strong community partnerships, I am incredibly grateful for all that we have accomplished together. From our Peace Projects to grants, youth programs, community outreach, and new initiatives, our Club has demonstrated the true power of Service Above Self.

Now, we look ahead with excitement and optimism as Henry Washington prepares to take the helm. Henry brings dedication, vision, and a deep commitment to Rotary’s values, and I am confident he will lead our Club to even greater heights.

Congratulations to Henry and our entire incoming leadership team. I look forward to supporting your goals and working together to continue strengthening our Club, serving our community, and making a lasting difference.
Here’s to another year of fellowship, service, leadership, and impact.

Last night, we were honored to be recognized by our District Governor Cindy Randina, Rotary District 7490 for our service as Assistant Governors and for the impact of a project that is very close to our hearts.

Congratulations to my fellow Assistant Governor, Aleta Frezzell, (and Vice President of our Club) whose dedication, leadership, and commitment to Rotary continue to make a difference throughout our district.

Recognition is never about one person—it reflects the collective efforts of so many Rotarians who believe in Service Above Self and work tirelessly to strengthen our communities.

I am grateful to Rotary District 7490 for this acknowledgment and for the opportunity to serve alongside such inspiring leaders. Together, we continue to demonstrate the power of Rotary to create meaningful and lasting change.
