Shortly after the arrival of The Covid pandemic In Denver Colorado there was a sudden increase in the number of homeless. At the same time The Colorado department of corrections due to health concerns restricted the number of religious volunteers entering the facilities.And as the Lord would have it, when one door closes, Then He is faithful to open up another. Some years prior, I met with some Saints who did nothing but make Baloney sandwiches And feed them to those in need. My wife and I along with others began to visit what now had become Tent Cities with the same thought in mind. However after our initial visit We determined That there was a greater need For more than baloney sandwiches. Several things The homeless have little or no access to is water and toilets for personal hygiene . knowing this we began Taking water and making up hygiene bags for males and females. Words can never describe the reaction of someone who has not brushed their teeth in days Receiving toothbrush and toothpaste, or to see them immediately set down and pull off ragged dirty socks for a clean new pair. A bar of soap,deodorant, face towel along with The Complete Gospel of John are also included.I would be remiss if I didn't mention the love and care that goes into these bags by the people who donate a large amount of time and resource as though it were a care package for their own son or daughter.
