B.C. Stitchers

The B.C. Stitchers spent a wonderful weekend at the Little York Fiber Fest in Preble, NY. Many thanks to our sister EGA, CNY Embroiderers' Guild of America, for graciously hosting the B.C. Stitchers at their table (you ladies are fabulous!). We spoke to lots of folks, gave out brochures, and talked non-stop about needlework (our favorite thing to do).

Common Threads Quilters Guild - one of our Broome County New York Quilting Guilds - located in Vestal, NY has put up their guild display at the George F. Johnson Memorial Library in Endicott. The ladies put up the display to help celebrate Broome County Needlework History and I just gotta say: "My oh my! It is a thing of beauty!"

I don't know how those ladies do it - but my goodness, they do it in style! My heart is singing!!! These pictures do not do it justice. Get yourselves over to the Endicott Library and see it in person. The display will be up for the entire month of October.

The cozy season continues and the B.C. Stitchers have plenty on offer.

First the B.C. Stitchers have their monthly meeting on Wednesday October 7, 2026 at 6:30pm. The public is welcome. We meet at the Endwell Fire Station on Country Club Road in Endwell, NY. Park in the back, come on in - and you'll find us in the fire hall.

Then on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11 - the B.C. Stitchers will be sharing a table with the CNY Embroiderers' Guild of America at the Little York Fest New York sponsored by the Cortland Repertory Theatre in Preble, NY. CNY is one of our sister EGA chapters located in Liverpool, NY. It will be a very fun fiber weekend!

But wait!!! It doesn't stop there! In November, the B.C. Stitchers kick off our: SNOWMAN SPECTACULAR. We will be holding Cross Stitch Snowman Ornament Stitch-Alongs at the Vestal Public Library (Nov. 9), Broome County Public Library (Nov. 21) and the George F. Johnson Memorial Library (Dec. 9). A free kit of your choosing will be a snowman pattern designed by the B.C. Stitchers very own Mary Guditis (In the Glade, Snowman Joy, Holly Days) and Amy Jackson (Mr. Snow Says Hello). Additionally, folks who "sign up and attend" any of the workshops will have a chance to win up to three giveaways (a free admission ticket to Roberson Museum Home for the Holidays or a snowman cross stitch kit by Lizzie Kate). And if that isn't cozy enough, the libraries will be playing a holiday movie while we stitch and offering tea and cookies. (Register with the library to snag a seat!)

Also in November & December, don't forget about the B.C. Stitchers "Guilded" Christmas display at the Vestal Museum or their Christmas Tree of cherished, hand stitched ornaments on display at Roberson Museum Home for the Holidays event.

I am telling ya - Fall and Winter in the Southern Tier has never looked better. Put on a cozy sweater and come out and celebrate needlework with the B.C. Stitchers.

And for anyone who has been thinking about stopping in at a B.C. Stitchers meeting but has just been dragging their feet - now is the time people. What are you waiting for? The B.C. Stitchers monthly meeting is open to the public. Our next meeting is Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at the Endwell Fire Station on Country Club Rd. in Endwell, NY at 6:30pm. Stop in and see the amazing stitching table or simply bring some of your own stitching, grab a seat, and chat it up with the B.C. Stitchers. They do love visitors and will gladly talk about needlework with you.

Also, don't forget that there are Needlework Guild Displays currently happening around town. You have another few days to stop in and see the Pearl K. McGown RugHookrafters Guild display at the Vestal Public Library or the B.C. Stitchers Guild Display at the Broome County Public Library. Then, in October, head over to the Endicott Library as Common Threads will have a quilt display. And in November and December, Vestal Museum (right next door to the Vestal Library) will have an amazing "Guilded" Christmas Display that will celebrate the long history of our Broome County Needlework Guilds.

The last Embroidery 101 for the year is happening at the George F. Johnson Memorial Library, 1001 Park St., Endicott, NY, Wednesday, September 23, 2026 from 6pm. to 7:30pm. The class is FULL (all 25 spots), however, the library has the waitlist open. Get on the waitlist and call the library on the day to see if they have cancellations. The is likely your best bet if you are trying to snag a seat as the Embroidery 101 is very popular.

Embroiderers' Guild of America is always coming through with their good and helpful embroidery advice. Thanks EGA!!!

Only three seats left for the Anne Patterson Floral Motif Embroidery Workshop being held this Saturday at the Tioga County Historical Society in Owego, NY!

I still have three seats available for anyone who might have been interested in the Anne Patterson Floral Motif Embroidery Workshop this Saturday (September 19th) from 2pm. to 4pm. at the Tioga County Historical Society on Front St. in Owego, NY.

Arts Abloom yesterday at Roberson Museum was a great event! Many thanks to the fine folks at Roberson for the invite and for helping to celebrate not only the Anne Patterson bedcover - but also Broome County Needlework History. The workshop had an amazing turnout and we were even blessed with some young stitchers (under the age of 12). It was a fun and fantastic afternoon. 🥰

Embroidery 102 this afternoon at Your Home Public Library in Johnson City, NY. The workshop starts at 5pm. and goes to 6:30pm. Free kit provided. Nothing you have to bring but yourselves. We will cover the chain stitch, the stem stitch, seed stitch, satin stitch and the fishbone stitch. This is the last Embroidery 102 for the year. I called over to the library and they still have seats available. If you plan to attend , be sure to register with the library at 607-797-4816.
