It is with heavy hearts that we announce after 15 years of caring for the abused and unwanted, abandoned and loved ones left behind, the forgotten, voiceless feathered companions of New York, Jimmy Js Avian Rescue is closing its doors and can no longer house, foster, or shelter any more of New Yorks parrots. Make no mistake this is 100% due to one size fits all, shelter law 26, which took effect today. The burden of cost imposed on small rescues like ours is more than we can bare at this time. Will parrots die because of ours making the decision to close? ABSOLUTELY! But we were doing the best we could. We rationed Healthcare only when absolutely necessary, yes, but as humans must do that. We had a Vet that cared for our babies and cut us a break when she could, and she knew we were doing the best we could for the ones in our care. Remember, no matter what the activists say the alternative is DEAD ANIMALS. THESE DEATHS ARE SQUARELY THEIR FAULT. Without this interference, we would continue providing services to birds in need. Remember that when you vote. It has been our absolute pleasure to work in this community, from the flood in 2006 and 2011 to Spiedie Fest and all the friends in between we will miss serving. Thank you for 15 wonderful years! Merry Christmas and a Joyous New Year.
Please stay tuned to future plans to help communities.
