Gut Feelings Kombucha

Gut Feelings Kombucha Come enjoy some raw, organic, uncompromised kombucha in a family and community focused space. Hello and welcome to Gut Feelings!

We are a small family-owned business with a big vision and passion for living life to the fullest. Founders, Alison Kunkel and Brian Turshman both studied nutrition and became Certified Holistic Health Coaches in 2008 through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (back when the program was held in-person in Manhattan, NY and recognized by American Association of Drugless Practitioners and accred

ited through Teachers College, Columbia University). Alison and Brian were married in 2009, in the beautiful Shawangunk Mountains at "The Million Dollar View" on Mohonk Preserve. While pursuing personal hobbies and passions, such as music, yoga, reiki, and meditation together and side-by-side for many years, both Brian and Alison became nurses out of their interest in health and wellness, and their desire to help others. Outside of the nursing grind, Brian is a musician and has played both guitar and bass in different bands and still collaborates with his friend's band, Sheila and the Deep End. Brian and Alison will never turn down a jam or karaoke fun. Music is so important to both of them, they are excited to offer a unique, wellness-inspired venue for musicians and music lovers. Alison is also a certified yoga teacher (Anusara Inspired, 2014), a Reiki Level II Practioner (2010), and an ordained Interfaith Minister (2012). Together, Brian and Alison do weddings and other ceremonies. Learn more at Simple Ceremonies, Meaningful Memories page. Gut Feelings Kombucha and Community Center joins together so many parts of both Alison and Brian in way that creates a much greater WHOLE. They envision Gut Feelings will be a hub for local creatives and healers in all forms and that it will serve and nourish the community, fostering togetherness, creativity, and kindness.

Dear Community,

As you already know, our mission and vision is pretty big and all encompassing. Bringing this non-profit organization to fruition is going to take a lot of effort, time and persistence. Please know that while things may look dormant, there is a lot of preparation, networking, and growth happening. Unfortunately, because we want to be careful and thorough, we cannot immediately pursue the property that sparked such a vision. Meanwhile, the property sits, waiting for an owner, and it is unknown what will come of it. I have spent so much time with laser focus on this vision, that I am confident it will manifest in some form or another. While we work hard on the logistics and continue to network, I want to begin offering our kombucha again in some form. It will take about a month to have enough in the fridge. I will reach out on a more private basis with those details.

So much love to all of you.

And Happy Full Moon, the “Snow Moon”!

Alison

We believe a new earth is possible. From the ground up, starting in small communities around the world. This is our little part we are called to manifest in this corner of this beautiful planet... “Endicott, NY.” We envision this space to be not only our kombucha brewery, but a true community center, sharing local artisan foods and goods. Sharing healing services and offerings, music, art and ideas. Family friendly, with potential child drop off events and education programs. Let’s make our own culture. You’re invited to come dream with us. And drink some amazing raw, organic, uncompromised kombucha while we’re at it.

The home brew journey

Dear friends and family, lovers of our kombucha and supporter of our dreams:

Happy Yuletide. We celebrated the Winter Solstice to kick-off our still evolving Yule traditions. It has been a magical time as we reflect and rejoice in the returning of the light. The late summer and fall of this year was a very trying time for our family and for me personally. I apologize for going dark on so many loved ones as I, and we, worked through our struggles.

A side note to anyone reading this letter, if you ever need another human to talk with that gets the internal battles, I’ve been to the deepest waters, and so far I’ve managed to somehow come up for air every time, even when I was sure I might drown. I don’t wish this experience on anyone, but I will say, when I finally come up to the surface and fill my being with air/prana/light again, and after I adjust to living, I find that I am more aligned, deeply grateful and I feel more connected with source. I know, for whatever reason, I need to go through the dark. And though friends and family are always there, the work is always a solo journey. It is lonely and it is hell. But I am more alive now.

Our little family has really big news. We found a property (or perhaps the property found us?) to support our dreams, that are constantly unfolding the more we dream them. This property has the potential to not only be our kombucha brewery, but a cafe and community center and potentially so much more. I have no doubt that this space is meant for us, and meant for our community. But it’s going to take a lot of work and resources to get us there and get us going. We are considering launching a kick-starter to help get the wheels in motion. Whether or not you have the means to contribute, if you’d like to be a part of this journey and if you’d like to be in the know about our kombucha, or if you simply want to support us from afar, please follow us at our business page, Gut Feelings.

If you are still reading, I have so much gratitude for you. And know that I and we love you...whoever you are.

Our family wishes you all many blessings this Yule season and in the year to come.

Love,

Alison, Brian, Genevieve, and Mabry
