09-08-2026 at 12:10 the Enderlin Sheldon fire department was dispatched to the Enderlin airport for an incident involving a tractor. Upon arrival it was determined that the west bound tractor and rotary mower had left Hiway 46 after the driver suffered a medical emergency. The tractor then struck the west end of the hanger and entered the structure. Fire crews extinguished a small fire caused by the crash and helped with stabilizing and extricating the driver from the tractor. The driver was transported to Fargo via Sanford Air Med. The tractor, building and its contents all suffered heavy damage.

This Saturday at our Sheldon station 1-2pm during Sheldon day. come grab some ice cream, look at the emergency vehicles and chat with your local first responders.

08-16-2026 at 17:12 Enderlin Sheldon Fire Department along with EMS was dispatched to a CRP field fire involving a tractor and hay baler approximately 9 miles SW of Enderlin. Upon arrival approximately 6 acres of grass and 4 hay bales were actively burning. The hay baler and the rear of the tractor were fully engulfed. Crews went to work extinguishing the fire and were able to bring under control within approximately 30 minutes. We remained on scene for the next several hours controlling hot spots and unrolling the already burning hay bales to mitigate any risk of farther fire spread with the predicted wind shift.

A good reminder with emergency haying taking place and small grain harvest season in progress to carry the proper fire extinguishers/ suppression equipment. And to properly maintain and inspect all equipment.

08-05-2026 at 14:44 the Enderlin Sheldon fire department along with EMS was dispatched to a vehicle fire approximately 12 miles west of Enderlin on highway 46 west bound. Upon arrival on scene area neighbors had extinguished the bulk of the fire with their water trailer. Firefighters finished extinguishing the remaining fire and provided traffic control. the Highway was opened up to one lane shortly after. Crews remained on scene approximately 1 hour. No injuries. the pickup was a total loss but the trailer being towed was able to be salvaged.

07-28-2026 at 13:50 hrs. The Enderlin Sheldon Fire Department was dispatched to the Enderlin VFW for reports of a strong odor of propane within the building. Upon arrival the propane supply to the building was shutdown. The entry captain and firefighter observed low levels of CO present in the building. The building was then ventilated. It was discovered after the ventilation process that a gas valve on an appliance in the kitchen was partially open. Valve was then closed propane supply was turned back on. checked building after a period of time found no returning CO And management was then given an all clear to return to normal operation. It was determined the valve had most likely been bumped in the cleaning process the night prior and without a pilot light present had allowed a slow leak raw propane. We remained on scene for approximately 1hr 20 minutes. Agencies assisting Ransom County Sheriffs department and First Medic ambulance.
