“Deep Breaths, Everyone”
Today’s integration moment: Benson and Grant paused their head‑butting long enough to share a snack… and then immediately resumed battle. We celebrate the wins, even the tiny, snack‑sized ones.

Garden Highlights!  Baby avocados everywhere — the trees are loaded and ready to grow.

Fun fact: each one starts as a tiny pea‑sized fruit after pollination, then spends the summer slowly filling out.
The forest is officially in “tiny but mighty” mode.

A quick scroll through today’s goat moods:
• Luke = professional lounger
• Grant/Fritzl/Luke = snack lobbyists

Every goat, enjoying their day.  May you enjoy yours!

My goats and my dogs don’t know they’re treated differently in the world. They just know they like snacks, sunshine, and each other.
But we know. We’re the ones who decided dogs are “pets” and goats are “products.” Milk. Meat. Fiber. Utility.

Spend five minutes watching them together and the whole system feels… strange. Because the truth is simple: They’re all just animals trying to live a safe, peaceful life.
Here, they get to.

The apple trees are loaded this year, which is great news for everyone except… the apple trees!
The squirrels and crows are circling like tiny, adorable sharks. The goats are already tasting their goodness. 🍎

Good news and “oh‑Laya‑please‑why” news.
Good news: Laya has officially made it through her false pregnancy mastitis infection. Yay!! 😀
Ugh news: In the process of trying to check her last week, she got her horn stuck in the fence, freaked out, cracked it, and turned the whole barnyard into a screaming‑bloody‑chaos scene. Classic Laya.
We wrapped her up (after she threw in a few ninja‑level kicks), and she’s healing, but she’s been giving me the cold shoulder ever since. This week she finally started letting me pet her again… but that horn is strictly off‑limits.
Life with Laya: never boring, always dramatic, forever worth it.

Maggie decided to keep things interesting last week. A sneaky tooth sharpened with age and caused a golf‑ball‑sized abscess on her jaw. Thankfully, got her all fixed up, draining the abscess and filing her tooth down and stitching her up! She rocked her anesthesia nap, woke up ready for dinner, and is now sporting some very fashionable stitches. This week has been good and she is on the recovery road!! 🙏❤️🙏❤️

Our final Teen Volunteers in Action day of the school year did not disappoint. These teens tackled everything — rock moving, hoof trimming help, goat walks, barn cleaning — and saved the best for last: handing out mulberry leaves and olive to a happy herd of goats. So grateful to TVIA for another year of showing up for the herd!

Cuddle class is officially in session. Benson & Eli (our 1 year old bros) have clearly been studying Fritzl & Grant (the OG cuddle kings), because they’re now snoozing in similar cuddle formation.
