Mountaineer Search and Rescue

Mountaineer Search and Rescue We are a volunteer team devoted to helping our community. We specialize in man tracking but that is not all that we are limited to!

This page was set up to educate our community and surrounding areas that there is someone out there that will be ready to come find you if you're lost. We also are very active in our community helping out with as many things as possible. For example we assist in the Cameron County Canoe and Kayak Classic by lining the stream to help any paddlers that may flip during the race. We also put the flags

out in town. One major thing for us that has developed over the past few years is the annual big foot hunt they we do as a fundraiser that has seemed to be a very big hit! This is just a snapshot of what we do and can do. We hope you enjoy looking at our page and getting updated on the things we do! Thank you so much for your SUPPORT!

We talked to Bigfoot early this morning and he said What a Great Fireworks in Emporium last night and Amazing lightning during the night !!! He got alittle wet traveling around the county ! Good luck finding the cutouts he dropped off !!!!!

Are you READY ????! Bigfoot hunt is one day away !!!! Tomorrow is the last chance to get your license!!!!!!
Daylight Saturday morning starts the hunt , don't forget if you find a Foot take a picture of it RIGHT WHERE YOU FOUND IT with the time stamp on the photo !!!!
Just went through the prizes and Wow !!!!!
Also even if you don't find a foot bring you license to our booth for a bonus gift !!!!!

2026 Bigfoot licenses are out !!!! They can be bought at: Cameron County Chamber of Commerce & Artisan Center , Lake View store, and Driftwood Saloon ! Can't make it up before the hunt ?! Contact the Chamber and they will mail them to you !!!
Could be a little tougher this year and check licenses as there have been some changes made !

Members gathered together along with:
Elkland Search and Rescue, Emporium Fire Department, Howard Fire Swiftwater team, With Boat, Pine Glen Swiftwater Team, With boat and Region 13
Swiftwater Team to provide safety for the Cameron County Canoe and Kayak race Saturday Morning. Rescue [personal were spaced along the stream at areas known to cause troubles,

When all was said and done 31 boats started the race and all finished, with only 1 taking a dunk !!!
Mountaineer Search and Rescue would like to thank the teams that turned out and lent us a hand this year !!!

The next time you see one of these folks or next year when you paddle a quick Thank You shout out goes a long way !!

Team was called out Thursday night for a missing hunter in the Quehanna area., some slippery roads getting into the area, But once on location search area set and with help from PSP helicopter, team members and DCNR,subject was located quickly and brought out under his own power. Outside of being chilly he was in great shape ! Thank You to PSP,and DCNR, for the help.
