Handlebars of Hope

Handlebars of Hope Restoring bikes, Reviving Hope. Our Mission is simply sharing the love of Jesus and giving hope through bicycles.

We thrive on relationship building, making economic impacts in impoverished communities, with the ultimate goal of making eternal impacts. Since 2014 we have given away thousands of bikes and have done countless free repairs for those less fortunate. We currently serve in the border region of Brownsville, TX and Matamoros, MX. We also serve those in the Emporia, KS region with our partner High Gea

Great post from our friends at SONshine Ministries International. There is no way we could do this alone. We will never meet every need but we know partnering with others, with the same vision, we can meet a lot of needs together.

Better Together.

One of the greatest lessons we have learned in ministry is that we cannot meet every need alone. God never intended for His people to work separately when we can accomplish so much more together.

We were blessed to partner with Handlebars of Hope in Brownsville. By joining hands with other ministries, churches, and organizations that share a heart for serving others, we are able to reach more people, meet more needs, and show the love of Christ in greater ways.

Unity is the answer. When God’s people work together instead of apart, resources go further, opportunities multiply, and lives are impacted. Every bicycle, every meal, every prayer, and every act of kindness becomes part of something much bigger than any one ministry.

“Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.” — 1 Corinthians 12:27 (KJV)

We thank God for partners like Handlebars of Hope and for everyone who chooses to serve together. The need is great, but when the Body of Christ works as one, there is no limit to what God can do. ❤️🚲✝️

Back in the RGV after five weeks in Kansas.

It took several days to catch up on office work and get the yard back in shape. We were fortunate to have our friends from Kansas, Jonathan Lewis and his son, stop by and spend some time with us across the border. It was great catching up and sharing a little part of our mission with them.

Also a special shout out to Ryan Balkenhol for the hook up on a 7 bike rack. Now we can transport even more bikes, to those in need, more efficiently.

We are back in KS but our friends at One Mission Ministries were still distributing HoH bikes this week.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately—we’ve been busy knocking out a long list of work before we head back to Kansas for the La Grind.

If you’re not familiar with the La Grind - Emporia, KS, be sure to check it out! It’s an awesome event, and all the proceeds go to support our cause.

We appreciate all your support in getting more people on bikes.

Some of the new bike day photos from last week.

We crossed nearly 40 bikes—repaired them, gave some away, and the rest are getting ready for their new homes soon. Grateful for every helping hand that made this possible.

More to come.

This week was truly incredible! We had the privilege of partnering with Freedom Church Owasso, First Baptist Church of Brownsville, TX and United in Christ Ministry Worldwide Inc. to serve through several outreach events across the border.

From providing nearly 200 meals, painting a soup kitchen, crafts and even giving out bikes, every moment was filled with joy and purpose. It was amazing to come together, work side by side, and bring hope to families in different Mexican colonias.

Grateful for everyone who made this week so special

Team Handlebars of Hope has been racing the last few weekends in Matamoros, and the competition and temperature has been 🔥

This weekend Matt ventured over to compete with the team. After lining up against a bunch of 20-year-olds, he joked that he’s definitely starting to feel his age! Almost 50.

Proud of the whole Handlebars of Hope crew for showing up and representing, on and off the race course.

Also thanks to CYCLE TECH BIKES bikes for adding us to the race banner and representing our cause.
