Program Technician

Agency seeking Program Technician to perform the overall planning, program development and evaluations to ensure customers and community needs are addressed. Additional responsibilities include: research and preparing grant proposals for funding, providing technical assistance to existing staff to enhance program outcomes, to attend and participate in planning meetings, advisory groups, committees, Boards, etc., and to collect, analyze, compile and disseminate data. Qualifications include Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration or human services and/or equivalent work-related experience. Must have computer skills, editing, good oral and written communication skills. Must have research and analytical skills. Must pass a background check and a valid driver’s license.

Food Service Specialist/Office Assistant
The Improvement Association is hiring a Food Service Specialist/Office Assistant for the Head Start Center in Dinwiddie County. Duties include preparation of breakfast/lunch in collaboration with school division; develop snack menu, and prepare monthly meal count reports. Duties may also include assisting in the site’s location office and substituting and/or providing additional support in the Head Start classroom. A High School Diploma, valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record, and basic computer skills required. Must have reliable transportation. Knowledge of CACFP regulations and ServSafe certification preferred. Must pass a background check.
Family & Community Partnership Coordinator
Responsible for the planning and implementation of comprehensive services for the Head Start children and families in Brunswick County. Recruits and maintains enrollment, assess the needs of parents, and develop strategies to move them towards self-sufficiency. Must have an understanding of the Head Start philosophy and familiarity with early childhood development. Must have knowledge of community resources and partnership/relationship building strategies.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Family, Health, or Disabilities or related field preferred. Must obtain current First Aid and CPR certification and valid driver’s license.
Teacher Assistant
Responsibilities include assisting the teacher with planning and implementing learning experiences that advance the social-emotional, intellectual, and physical development of children, including their understanding of early math, literacy, and science skills. Teacher Assistants must have a minimum of a High School Diploma and a Child Development Associate (CDA) or be enrolled in a CDA program or Associate's Degree program. Must have a satisfactory criminal background check.
Teacher
Responsibilities include planning and implementing learning experiences that advance the social-emotional, intellectual, and physical development of children ages 3-5 years, including their understanding of early Math, literacy, and Science skills. Applicant must have at least an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with experience working with children. Baccalaureate Degree Preferred. Must have a valid Driver's License, satisfactory driving record and Criminal Background Check.. Must have a satisfactory criminal background check.
Family Service Specialist
The Improvement Association is seeking a Family Service Specialist (FSS) to assist with recruiting and enrolling children in the Head Start program and ensure that Head Start program services and community resources are available to enrolled children and their families. Will work with families to develop a strength-based plan of action to meet their needs and will inform neighborhood residents and the community about the services provided through the Head Start program and other programs of total community action. The FSS will be responsible for maintaining accurate data on each family to facilitate program services and to assess their impact on the families we serve. An Associate Degree in Social Work or Human Services or in a related field of study preferred. Ability to communicate verbally and writing is desirable, accurately enter data into the computer. Must have a valid driver's license and transportation.
