The Virginia Peanut Festival festivities will continue as planned for this evening.

All festivities which were scheduled for Saturday will now be held on Sunday, September 24th.

The Parade will be held on Sunday at 2:00pm. Line-Up will begin at 1:00pm.

In answer to questions asked about the Gift Card Program…

The Sale of Gift Cards will continue until all funds are exhausted or until December 28th, 2021……whichever occurs first.

A Maximum of 5 cards can be purchased with cash only by a consumer. (This is to ensure that everyone in the community has a chance to take advantage of this bargain and that no one person can buy up all of the cards.)

All Cards have a value of $20……….The purchase price is just $10 each.

If a consumer purchases five $20 value cards, ($100 in gift cards actually), it will only cost the consumer $50.

At the time of purchase the consumer will need to designate which business or businesses the cards will be used for.

Anyone can purchase the cards. You do not need to be a resident of the City of Emporia.

The cards will be sold at the Extension Office beginning tomorrow…

Wednesday, December 15th, 5:00pm – 7:00pm
Thursday, December 16th 10:00am – 1:00pm

The Emporia Extension office is located next to the Armory, (former home of the Boys & Girls Club)

All cards will expire on January 31st, 2022.

We are excited to share that on Saturday, July 4th the Emporia-Greensville Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Fireworks Display for the entire community of Emporia-Greensville.

For the safety of everyone, we will not be able to provide the live music and entertainment this year as we have done in the past. We will however join the community in celebrating the birth of our nation with our annual fireworks display to begin at approximately 9:00pm. We encourage everyone to view the fireworks from various points in and around the City of Emporia while observing the current social distancing guidelines.
