Emporia Celebrates the Flint Hills Emporia Celebrates the Flint Hills supports community activities that enhance the quality of life in Emporia and the Flint Hills.

The organization was developed to entice people coming to the area for the Symphony in the Flint Hills to come a day or two in advance or stay a day or two longer and enjoy additional activities in Emporia and the Flint Hills. Projects originated or supported by ECFH include Pianos on the Pavement, Secondhand Sounds, Emporia Symphony "POPs" concert, "Imprinting the West" exhibit at Emporia Arts Ce

Our Story

Emporia Celebrates the Flint Hills, founded in 2000, is a volunteer organization which initiates and/or supports events that provide opportunities for residents and visitors to connect with the culture and history of Emporia and the Flint Hills. Selected projects and events of Emporia Celebrates the Flint Hills include the following:

*Emporia Symphony Orchestra - ECFH continues to sponsor the annual "pops" concert and the children's concert.

*Pianos on the Pavement - decorated pianos brought public art downtown during a busy summer period which included the Dirty Kanza, the Flint Hills Rodeo, and the Symphony in the Flint Hills.

*USD253 - ECFH began annual field trips for schoolchildren to the National Tallgrass Prairie Preserve.
