A big step forward for our community! 🎉

Emporia–Greensville now has a Free Guest Wi-Fi Park & Surf location, providing residents with a safe way to connect to the internet from their vehicles.

This may look like a simple sign, but it represents something much bigger. It means students have a place to complete homework, families can access important services, and job seekers can apply for opportunities without worrying about internet access.

Moments like this show what can happen when leaders and partners work together to remove barriers and create opportunities for everyone.

Thank you to Old Dominion University, Rural Health Connect, Virginia , and everyone who helped make this possible for the Emporia–Greensville community. This is what investing in people looks like. 🌟

The Washington Park Association recently had the opportunity to connect with over 100 students to explore new opportunities and possibilities for their future.

Students participated in the MEAC College Fair in Norfolk, where they met with representatives from several Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and learned more about admissions, scholarships, academic programs, and campus life. Experiences like this help students see that college and career pathways are within reach.

Students also experienced the excitement of collegiate athletics by attending a MEAC women’s basketball tournament game between South Carolina State University and Howard University, giving them a glimpse into campus life beyond the classroom.

Last night’s fires have weighed heavy on our hearts, and we’re especially lifting up the families who were impacted or displaced. Moments like this can feel overwhelming, and we want our community to know you’re not alone.

The Washington Park Association will be open for the next three days as a place of refuge and rest. If you need a safe space to sit, recharge, or access computers and resources, our doors are open for you.

A heartfelt thank you to the volunteers and our local fire department who responded so quickly and continue to care for our neighbors with strength and compassion.

What an incredible morning at our Annual Prayer Breakfast — hearts full, community strong, and so much to celebrate!

We were proud to honor Mr. Earl Cain as our Community Leader of the Year, recognizing his unwavering commitment, servant leadership, and the lasting impact he continues to make in Emporia–Greensville. His dedication truly embodies what it means to lead with heart.

We also celebrated the WPA Board Members, who were presented with letterman jackets as a symbol of their hard work, service, and deep investment in our community. A small token for the huge difference they make every day.

Moments like this remind us — when we come together in prayer, service, and purpose, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish.

Here’s to leadership, legacy, and lifting each other up. 💙
