We had an awesome time at our troop meeting, as Scouts enjoyed some relaxation time by having a paint social. A special thanks to all parents who volunteered and helped keep the paint flowing this evening! 💚

Happy birthday to one of our parents, Mrs. Jessica, who spent her evening with us and has been a big help since becoming a member of our troop family!

On October 29th, our troop participated in a community Trunk or Treat, sponsored by the Communities in Schools, at the Washington Park Center.

A special thanks to local Emporia artist April Jordan Hawthorne for designing our festive decorations!

Our Scouts had an awesome time kicking off the start of our ‘25-26 Scouting year this evening! We welcomed new members and embarked on our new journey of wellness. Our theme this year is Power Up: Glow and Grow! Our Scouts committed to a season of improving self confidence, choosing healthier lifestyles and showing kindness to those around us.

Tonight, we began with exercising by playing Just Dance together, before we took turns learning about proper facial care with Esther Easter, a local Mary Kay representative and troop volunteer, as well as making our own trail mix with Scout leaders and parent volunteers.

We are looking forward to a year of learning, growing and glowing while having FUN! 💚

As we close out our third Scouting season, we reflect on bonds made, memories shared, and goals achieved. On behalf of the Troop leaders, we wish to thank all of our volunteers and our parents for making sure our parades, parties, snacks, and trips are in order. Special thanks to Washington Park Association LLC, Emporia, VA for allowing the use of their building and transportation, as well as Dr. Angela Wilson for her continuous support of our efforts. And to our Scouts, we hope this trip encourages you to continue to grow as leaders of the pack!

We are looking forward to the 25-26 Scouting year with great anticipation of what’s to come!

Please join us in congratulating our very first Ambassador Scout, Germoni Smith-Goode, a 2025 dual graduate of Greensville County High School and Southside Virginia Community College! Germoni completed her studies as a Governor’s Dual Enrollment student—balancing high school and college with grace and excellence.

This fall, Germoni will take the next exciting step in her academic journey by attending Old Dominion University, where she has earned a $3,000 scholarship in recognition of her academic achievements. She plans to major in Marine Biology and continue on to Veterinary School with the goal of becoming an Aquatic Veterinarian.

Throughout high school, Germoni stayed deeply involved in her school and community. Her activities include:
🔹 Virginia State Upward Bound TRiO
🔹 VSU Summer Bridge Program
🔹 Beta Club & Book Club
🔹 Varsity Softball & Volleyball
🔹 Modeling in the 2023 Black History Fashion Show & 2024–25 GCHS Fashion Show
🔹 Tutoring K–5 students at Golden Leaf Commons
🔹 Mentoring peers and volunteering in recreational sports, concession stands, nursing homes, childcare centers, and hospice care

She’s also a National High School Scholar, participated in National Youth Leadership programs (Business & Veterinary), and has been recognized on both the President’s and Vice President’s Lists. Germoni holds certifications in CPR, WISE, and Personal Finance, and has earned honors in both nursing and veterinary studies. Germoni balanced all her academic and school related activities with being a role model scout to our younger girls.

With standout skills in communication, leadership, and time management, Germoni is passionate about giving back and making a difference—both in her community and in the future of animal health. 🐾🌊

We wish her well as she dives into the next chapter of her journey! 💚

Please come out and help us celebrate the accomplishments of our Scouts. Sign-ups for next Scouting season will be conducted as well.
