Missing from Hill Street and 8th in Emlenton๐Ÿ˜ข!

Felix has been missing from his house since Friday๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ’”! He is friendly, fixed and vaccinated and will travel around but it isnโ€™t like him to be gone like this.

Please let us know if you find him. He has an appointment at the vet tomorrow to be examined and get some antibiotics for his chronic sinus congestion๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜ปโค๏ธ!!

Handing off free kittens may solve your immediate problem, but too often, it simply passes the problem on to someone else. ๐Ÿ˜ž

One of the most common calls we receive for spay/neuter assistance starts with:
โ€œWe rescued this kitten from someone to help them out, but we really canโ€™t afford to get her fixed.โ€

And sadly, those are just the people who actually reach out for help. Most never do. ๐Ÿ˜ข

If we truly care about cats and kittens and their long-term well-being, we have to think beyond just finding them โ€œa home.โ€ We need to make sure they are going into responsible homes where spay/neuter will absolutely happen. That means taking the time to screen adopters, having an adoption process, and getting mom cat spayed ASAP. โœ…

You can safely rehome kittens yourself, but please consider reaching out to a shelter or rescue for guidance on how to do it responsibly and safely.

This crisis is bigger than any one person, rescue, or shelter. We all have to work together to break the cycle and make sure these cats are not continuing to reproduce generation after generation.

Yesterday was another busy day for us!

3 cats, 2 females and 1 male, were taken to Precious Paws to be fixed, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated and ear tipped(since they are either outdoor only or indoor/outdoor cats). Thankfully, neither of the females were pregnant๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป!

The male, is a friendly young adult cat who was walking up Rt. 38 past Airport Road and thankfully, stopped at a house who had wonderful humans before he was hit on the road. My guess is they he came from an Amish farm or possibly dumped๐Ÿ˜ข. They reached out for help to get him fixed and vaccinated and were also able to secure a loving home for him. He was transported to his new loving home yesterday after being fixed.

One of the females is a semi-friendly stray who showed up at a house last fall on Airport Road as a younger kitten. The couple reached out for help to get her fixed so there arenโ€™t any more kittens born. She was safely returned to her home. There is also a male cat showing up and we will work to get him trapped.

The last female is a beautiful black feral cat that was humanely trapped in town Monday night. She is the second black female cat that we have trapped in town over the last month. These 2 black cats have not been around town for very long and they travel together. We have had other cats dumped in Emlenton before so I am not sure if this was the case for them๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ก!

As a reminder, it is illegal to dump and/or abandon cats and kittens. If we catch you, we will prosecute you.

I want to continue to thank all those who are helping to support our efforts by reaching out sooner than later if they have a unfixed cat, helping to set traps, donating money to cover our vet expenses etc. It takes a village and I am very grateful ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿปโค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ป!

To date, 478 cats and kittens have been helped with the Emlenton Community Cat TNR and Rescue Project ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿปโค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ป!
