Fundamental Natural Resources got to collect a sample of fresh honey from the bee hives today including both the the wax and honey. They were able to even taste some samples once we made it back to the classroom.

Fundamental Horticulture completed their first arrangements and they are ready for pickup! This weeks arrangement was focused around a “Fall Floral Theme” with yellows, dark reds, and oranges with some native grasses.

We still have three remaining if anyone is interested in an arrangement.

Fundamental Natural Resources took a field trip today out to the local hives to introduce them the world of pollinators. After we begin wrapping up our biodiversity and extinctions unit we are now transitioning into cycles within a habitat.

The Fundamental Horticulture Class came up with a fun and unique idea to help fundraise for a Floral Cooler while being able to practice with real flowers.

This class is going to begin a Bi-Weekly Floral Design Sale where they will be making 10 floral arrangements for sale each period. If the sales start to go well they will consider increasing the number.

Their first sale item will focus on a fall floral arrangement that will contain Eucalyptus, Wheat, Chrysanthemums, and some others in a pint mason jar. See the floral mock up they are replicating in their flyer below. These will sell on Thursday October 8th with pickup taking place starting at 3 PM in the CTE Building.

If you are interested in purchasing one these will be done on a first come first serve basis by contacting Mr Toupal via email or text. We will notify you once all have been claimed for the bi-weekly sale by updating our post here. Please reach out to any student in the class if you have any questions.

Lots of fun in the classroom today as many classes helped prepare this evenings harvest meals! This was a fun new addition to our lineup menu this year with Slider Flights.

This consisted of a BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato on a Slider), Chicken Parm (Fresh Chicken Patty with Marinara and Parmesan Cheese on a Slider), and a Ham and Cheese (Sliced Carver Ham with Muenster Cheese on a Slider).

We would like to thank everyone who purchased meals this week with a total of 284 leaving the classroom this evening! Next meal signups are still open for next week’s Brisket Mac and Cheese on 10/15.

We are still searching for either an Emery or an Alexandria Jacket! If you could help us out by letting us borrow it that would be a great addition to this 100th year celebration. Reach out to Mr Toupal if you know of someone who may have one.

A retired ag teacher's 100th anniversary project is bringing together more than 170 jackets, including those for chapters that no longer exist.

Our second night of Harvest Meals is Monday with a new menu item created by this years officer teams. We will be offering single and double meals of a Ham and Cheese Slider, BLT Slider, and a Chicken Parmesan Slider!

Today Fundamental Natural Resources got to play a fun activity around over harvesting and extinction as we just wrapped up the notes yesterday. They got to participate in a friendly contest eliminating some pests from the classroom and shop that buzz around and just pester. With the abundant fly population Ayden O. secured the most on his plate earning him a king size candy bar.

Wildlife and Fisheries had a different view of the classroom today where we went out fishing. We are beginning to wrap up our Fisheries Unit focusing on native species of fish to South Dakota.
