Emerson beat North Warren Regional1-0 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at zero in the bottom of the 4th Olivia Samuels singled to left center, moving to second on an error, scoring after 2 wild pitches.
Sophia Centeno didn't allow a run on two hits. 7.0 IP | 2 H | 0 R | 0 BB | 8 K 💪🏼

Centeno, Brielle Schumeyer, Olivia Samuels, and Joanna Vigna each collected one hit for Emerson. Emerson turned one double play and didn't commit a single error.

Three athletes from EHS qualified to the State Group Meet on 5/29-5/30 held at Franklin High School.
Senior, Ally Palladino, placed 9th in the Triple Jump (33-11) and 17th in the 100m (13.10). Junior, James Nienstedt, placed 18th in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 16.63.
Sophomore, Adonis Pabon, placed 9th in the Triple Jump (43-0).

The Cavos ended the season with a walk-off win in the Bottom of the 7th inning.
Senior Tony Rinkiewicz pitched a gem. He needed only 61 pitches for a complete game allowing only 2 hits.
The Cavo offense was led by Seniors John Piccirillo & Mikey Amoia who both went 2 for 3.
Dom Megale came up big, driving in the winning run in the bottom of the 7th inning to seal the victory!

Boys lacrosse enjoyed an undefeated week with a dominant win over Lyndhurst/North Arlington and a forfeit by Dwight Englewood. After a rebuilding year marked by grit and determination, PRE will go on the road next week (5/28) to Ramsey in the first round of states,marking the second consecutive year the boys have reached states. Come out and support the team!

Emerson topped Pascack Hill's 4-1 on Tuesday on a 4 inning rain out. Emerson Varsity took the lead, 4-1, in the top of the fourth after Addison Youmans singled down the right field line, Brielle Schumeyer grounded into a fielder's choice, Gabby Micucci grounded out each scoring a run.

Sophia Centeno earned the win for Emerson giving up 4 hits and 1 run over 4 innings, striking out 2 and walking one.
Demi Graham led Emerson with 2 hits in 2 at bats. Youmans, Schumeyer, and Micucci each drove in one run for Emerson.

Emerson fell to West Milford Varsity 5-3 in extra innings on Thursday after the two teams traded HRs to tie the game at 3 in the early innings.

Sophia Centeno and Olivia Samuels were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected 2 hits while hitting back-to-back HOMERS!! 2 pitches, 2 homers. Centeno drove the middle of the lineup, leading Emerson with 2 RBI while going 2-for-4 on the day.

Come out to support the girls on Tuesday at home at 4:15 in the first round of the state tournament as they take on North Warren.

Senior Ally Palladino and Sophomore Adonis Pabon competed in the Bergen County Meet of Champions. Adonis placed 8th in the Triple Jump (43-1). Ally Palladino ran 12.87 in the 100m.

James Nienstedt will join Ally and Adonis at the State Group Meet on Friday and Saturday at Franklin High School!

On Thursday, May 21, the track team honored seniors Matthew Tortora and Ally Palladino.

A mixed week of results for boys lax. A late-scheduled game against Dayton ended in victory, with senior Matt Cappelluti showcasing his versatility by playing four different positions at various points - long-stick middie (LSM), short-stick defensive middie (SSDM), faceoff (FO) and Defense.

Tough loss to Nutley followed by a win against Hawthorne. A non-conference game against West Orange ended in defeat for the short-handed PRE team. Notable highlights - Matt Cappelluti scored his first varsity goal.

Next game is Monday, 5/18 against Lyndhurst/North Arlington as we await seedings for states on the 21st. Fingers crossed!

It came down to the wire on Senior Night Wednesday at Emerson Junior-Senior High School, as the Cavos grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 4-3, over Hasbrouck Heights!!

The game was tied at 3 in the bottom of the 7th after Brielle Schumeyer knocked in 2 runs on a two out, bases loaded double. Gabby Micucci knocked in Joanna Vigna from 3rd for the winning run!!

Sophia Centeno earned the win for Emerson allowing just 2 hits and 3 runs (2 earned) over 7 innings, striking out 7 and walking 2

The Cavos added 1 run in the 3rd after Demi Graham singled down the left field line.

Graham, Schumeyer, and Micucci each collected two hits for Emerson. Graham, Schumeyer, Grompone, and Micucci each drove in one run on the day.

Mr Schama assisted by Sean Smith organized and hosted his annual boys "Cavo Cup" tennis tournament. He invited tennis teams from New Milford, Union City, West New York, Waldwick and Cliffside Park. The tournament is played with all doubles teams. 1st singles from each team is paired with their coach and they compete against the other 1st Singles players and their coaches. 2nd and 3rd singles are paired together as a team and the 1st and 2nd Doubles teams play together as well. It was a day filled with tough competition and a lot of fun! Representing The Cavos were:

Emerson Junior Varsity Cavos rolled past New Milford 11-1 on Wednesday, powered by a six-run fourth inning. Key hits from Ben Denanza and Joey Plourde, along with strong plate discipline, helped break the game open. Emerson took control after tying the game in the first, then added three runs in the second and kept building from there.
Brandon Bolger earned the win, allowing just two hits and one run over five innings while striking out five. Ben Denanza led the offense with three RBIs and a 2-for-2 performance, with aggressiveness on the bases with 12 stolen bases. Emerson also played flawless defense without committing an error.

The Cavos suffered a tough loss to Division rival Midland Park.
With the Cavos down by 1 in the top of the 6th inning Mikey Amoia hit a go away 2-run Home Run to put the Cavos up but Midland Park responded with 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th to put them ahead.
John Piccirillo pitched a complete game and kept the Cavos in the game but unfortunately they came up short

Down by 1 in the bottom of the 7th the Cavos rallied to tie the game on a Ryan Dauble fielder’s choice to send the game into extra innings.
Midland Park scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 8th inning and held the Cavos scoreless in the bottom half.
Danny Dominguez was solid on the mound and pitched 7 and 2/3rds.

A big shout out to Senior Moms: Renee Giella, Joanne Piccirillo and Natalie Amoia who did an outstanding job of making Senior Night a success!

Congratulations to the varsity team for a fantastic season where they achieved a team record low round of 171! The team finished with a 14-6 overall record and 8-2 in their division.

Oliver Lu will be representing PRE as an individual player on 5/4 at the State Invitational NJSIAA North Jersey Group 1 at Newton Country Club. Good luck Oliver!

Highlight of the week for boys lacrosse was the team's victory over former division champs DePaul - down 10-4 at the half, senior Matt Cappelluti stifled the division's leading scorer in the second half allowing only two goals while the offense exploded for nine goals and sealing the victory with the winning shot by Park Ridge senior Jack Tully in the final minute of the game.

The boys suffered a tough loss on senior night, losing by one goal to Saddle Brook.

Team later lost in the opening round of the Bergen County Invitational Tournament to the #1 seed, River Dell.

No games this upcoming week due to tournaments.

Sophia Centeno threw 7 strong innings on the way to a 1 hit shutout. 7.0 IP | 0 R | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 5 K

Brielle Schumeyer collected 4 hits in 5 at bats, as Emerson defeated Park Ridge 12-0 at Park Ridge HS. A single by Demi Graham put Emerson on the board in the top of the 2nd. Emerson broke the game open in the 7th when Emerson scored 9 runs on 6 hits. Schumeyer doubled TWICE in the inning as Emerson batted around the line up, Julia Seretis singled, scoring two runs, Graham doubled, scoring two runs, Schumeyer doubled, scoring two runs, Gabby Micucci doubled, scoring one run.

Emerson Varsity tallied 16 hits in the game. Graham, the 7 hitter, led the way with 3 RBI. The right fielder went 3-for-4 on the day. Sophia Centeno, Joanna Vigna, and Sophia Perez each collected multiple hits for Emerson. Emerson turned one double play and didn't commit a single error in the field.

Sophia Centeno homered over the fence in center field, scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th for Emerson, she went 1-for-3 on the day. Brielle Schumeyer led Emerson with 2 hits in 3 ABs from the leadoff position.

ON TO THE NEXT ROUND!! Wednesday, May 6, 4:15 at IHA

Cavos were victorious against Pascack Hills 7-3 at Pascack Hills High School.

Cavos were the first to get on the board in the 3rd when Gabby Micucci grounded out, scoring one run. Pascack Hills tied the game in the 4th and then took the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the 5th. Emerson took the lead in the top of the 6th after Sophia Centeno singled down the left field line, Olivia Samuels grounded into a fielder's choice, Julia Seretis singled down the left field line, and Demi Graham singled to center field, each scoring 1 run.
Samuels and Seretis were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in 2 runs for Emerson. Centeno led Emerson with 2 hits in 4 at bats.

Centeno earned the win for Emerson. Sophia gave up 7 hits and 3 runs over 7 innings, striking out 8 and walking 2 batters.

Whether you have a student in 7th grade or 12th grade—and even if they aren't an athlete—we’d love your help! Just email us back to let us know which day and time you are available. Even if it is just for an hour, we will be happy to have the help.

The Cavos scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th for the comeback from behind victory.
The boys were led by Logan Manning who pitched 5 strong innings allowing only one run.
The Cavos played their best defense game of the year and were led by John Piccirillo who made an incredible diving catch preventing Butler from scoring an add on run in the 5th and Ryan Dauble who gunned down the tying run at 3rd base in the top of the 7th inning.

With the tying base runner on 3rd Ryan Dauble recovered a wild pitch and applied the tag for the final out to secure a huge win over heavily favored Glen Rock.
The Cavos were fueled by Daniel Dominguez’s complete game pitching performance in which he only allowed 1run over 7 innings.
Ryan Dauble and Dominick Megale both drove in runs in the top of the 6th to put the Cavos ahead for good!

Butler: 2
Emerson JV Cavos dominated Butler 12–2, fueled by big offensive innings in the second and third where they combined for 10 runs.
The team racked up 13 hits, with Caden Healey leading the way with three hits and Santiago Gray driving in three runs. Multiple players contributed multi-hit games, and Emerson showed patience at the plate with six walks.
On the mound, JJ Nieves allowed just one run over 3+ innings. Emerson also excelled on the bases with nine stolen bases and played error-free defense to complete the decisive win.

Glen Rock: 6
Emerson JV Cavos secured a thrilling 7–6 walk-off win over Glen Rock, with Charlie Spiegel getting hit by a pitch in the bottom of the seventh to drive in the winning run.
Emerson jumped out to a 5–0 lead in the first inning, but Glen Rock battled back to take a 6–5 lead late before Emerson rallied again in the final inning.
Charlie Spiegel led the offense with two RBIs and two hits, while Caden Healey also had two hits. Emerson showed aggressive base running, adding five stolen bases to help seal the comeback victory.

On Friday, despite jumping out to a 5-0 lead, Cedar Grove eventually caught up and won 12-6.

Sophia Centeno earned the win for Emerson. Sophia gave up 5 hits and 2 runs (one earned) over 7 innings, striking out 6 and walking 1.
Brielle Schumeyer collected 4 hits in 5 ABs, as Emerson defeated Glen Rock 11-2 at Glen Rock. Schumeyer singled in the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th inning!! Emerson got on the board in the 1st when Olivia Samuels singled, scoring 2 runs, then the Cavos added to their early lead in the 2nd after Schumeyer singled to center field, and Sophia Perez grounded out, each scoring a run. Emerson added another run in the 3rd when Julia Seretis doubled down the left field line, making the score 5-1.
Emerson tallied 14 hits in the game. Seretis led Emerson with 3 RBI. The second baseman went 3-for-4 on the day. Olivia Samuels, Kylie Grompone, and Gabby Micucci each collected multiple hits for Emerson.

Monday, April 20
The boys and girls track teams competed in a tri-meet at Emerson HS on Monday, April 20th, facing Cresskill HS and Dwight Englewood HS.
The boys team delivered an outstanding performance, earning victories over both Cresskill and Dwight Englewood. The girls team also had a strong showing, defeating Cresskill but falling short against Dwight Englewood.
