------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello, my name is Dylan Tradewell. I am a Life Scout with the Dragon Patrol and currently serve as the Senior Patrol Leader of Troop #446. I began scouting in the 5th grade (2017),
and it has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. It has given me many lifelong friends, unforgettable memories, and valuable lessons. Now, I’ve reached the part of my
journey where I am working on achieving my Eagle Scout Rank. I am in the midst of working on my Eagle Scout Service Project and have reached the stage where I need to secure
funding for my project. I am reaching out to family, friends, my troop, and the community to help raise the necessary funds to purchase the materials required.
My project is located at Ocean Oaks Park in Emerald Isle. The park underwent renovations a few years back, updating and ensuring its safety for the community. I aim to enhance the park further by installing a flagpole near the park's entrance sign. I plan to extend the existing retaining wall, create a rock bed, and construct a flagpole at its center, accompanied by a commemorative plaque. This area will serve as a tribute to my late grandfather, a member of the US Army, and honor all members of the US Armed Forces.
This park holds great significance for my family and me. My grandparents have resided in this neighborhood for over 40 years. As children, my mother and her siblings spent many
hours playing in that park. Similarly, my cousins and I grew up in that same park enjoying the new accommodations. A few years ago, my uncle and aunt’s foundation
generously donated for the park's reconstruction. I am thrilled to add the new flagpole area as a means to foster patriotism and honor those who have served and continue to serve
our nation.
To complete this project, I estimate that I will need approximately $1,100. This amount will cover the costs of the retaining wall, rocks, flagpole kit, plaque, food and beverages for
workdays for the volunteers and other materials needed to finish the project. This estimate does not account for donated materials, so the actual cost may be lower. If you wish to
contribute financially to my Eagle Scout Service Project, no donation is too small, and all contributions are deeply appreciated. Donations can be made online via the Venmo app to
-Starcke, with the memo “Dylan Tradewell’s Eagle Scout Service Project.” If you prefer to donate by check, please make it payable to Jackie Starcke and note “Dylan
Tradewell’s Eagle Scout Service Project” in the memo and send a message through the Troop page (Boy Scout Troop 446, Cape Carteret, NC) so that the Troop mailing address can be provided. If you prefer in person or cash donations, contact me
directly through email to arrange details. Any remaining funds will be donated to the Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation Department. Additionally, I plan to schedule two workdays in late December to complete my project. After the funds are raised, I will seek
volunteers who would like to help on those days.
I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me throughout my scouting journey. I am thankful for all the donations that contribute to my project of enhancing the
beauty of Ocean Oaks Park in Emerald Isle. It is my hope that this endeavor will make our veterans and active service members proud.
Yours in Scouting,
Dylan Tradewell
